If you'll notice the actual shortshift is placed at the bottom of the shifter so the actual height of the shifter is the same but throw is reduced.
 
Al, i would be interested in seeing how you fit the short shift if its possible to post some info/pics, cheers buddy.
 
First off you need to get the middle console out of the way so follow the post here

-In the 7th pic you will see 2 more screws in the foreground i haven't circled, remove these also. There are also 2 more bolts under the rubber mat under the armrest and also 2 more screws right at the bottom back either side of the armrest (get at these by pushing the front chairs forward). Once you have removed these the centre armrest module will come out.

-Pull the handbrake all the way up, you'll be left with this

-you might need to remove the white clips on the shifter housing also

-remove the split pin and take of this shifter cable from the ***embly (remember which way round the washers go!)

-remove the 4 bolts around the shifter (note yours will look different since there will be rubber bushings where the bolts come out!)
