Hi guys, having a wee problem at the moment. When im turning left on im getting a rubbing sound which only happens when there weight over it. I tried driving round in a circle forwards and in reverse but it dosent do it then, just seems to be when the weight of the car is on it in a bend. I had suspected th cv joint but im not to sure.

Anyone had a problem like this before?

Cheers

Only time I have had a problem similar is after having the front wheels off and tyres changed.
I think the is some kind of gaurd by the front discs and this had been disturbed

Have you had after market wheels (and/or tyres) fitted?

If you have, and they are a different size to the originals, then they could be rubbing on the inner arch lining.

I've got something similar on my 7th, having the rear caliper changed made it better but the garage reckon it's the corrosion around the edge of the disc, and when you're cornering the pad rubs onto it as it gets pushed upwards in relation to the axle.

Thanks for the response guys. Keep them coming :) il maybe whip the brake caliper and disc of for a look. Il give them a good clean up.

cheers

Right, here we go

Disks
Pads
CV boots
Tyres
Disk surround (most likely)
Bearings
Drop links
Play in the suspension

My first bit of advice would be to change the front and rear tyres around and see if that makes a difference. If not investigate the others that i have mentioned.

P.S I feel like i've missed a REALLY obvious one, but just can't bring it to the front of my brain

Not had a chance to check it yet but i know the cv boot is ok,all tge bushes and bolts seem good and tight. The discs and pads have plenty life in them. It dose sound like netal rubbing so im hoping its just yhe dust shield thing, but then again when i had the car jacked up and spun the wheel there was no rubbing, unless something is moving when tbe weights over that side during cornering.

Cheers for the advice tho guys,il report how i get on.

Anymore news yet dude?

If when the car is jacked up there's no noise then it has to be when the wheel is under load.

Have you got a friendly mechanic local? Could be a bearing. But still i'd check the clearance levels of the disk surround.

Not had a chance yet mate. Been working 12 hors this week :-( i have noticed that the noise isnt as bad now but i still want to whip everything off for a clean and look.

Cheers
