Sat Nav - replace with standard radio

Hi

so for the second time I've got the DVD disk read error

I'm going to take the drive out and clean the lens again tomorrow but the sat nav is pretty pants compared to smart phone ones so I'm thinking of just getting a standard 6 cd changer off ebay and swapping the sat nav out.

Is it a straight swap? I'll need something like a pocket to replace the DVD unit I know

I might think about doing this if it can be done, fed up with my satnav and being tied to the on screen heater settings.

Or I was thinking I might just take the dvd drive out and put in a single din in its place, but not sure if that will work, also don't want to lose steering wheel functions.

Do the U.S. Models have a different colour read out to the UK? I don't like the orange backlight, if so would they work on uk cars?

Should just clarify I mean a standard accord 6 cd stereo not a generic one !
