Hi All

I am having issues with the seat belt safety lock. I know its by design, however it is a real nuisance to plug a baby car seat (the ones you have the base always there and you plug in the car seat to it). This is because the seat belt locks itself and the only way to make it unlocked is to remove the base unit and retract the seat belt all the way.

Upon some research, the seat belt lock mechanism comes into action when you full pull the seatbelt. I have to fully pull it since the car seat is quite large.

A solution to this is to buy a seat belt extenstion (or sell the car). I have so far bought 4 different seat belt extenders, however none fit the Honda Accord seat belts.

This is crazy as I cannot take my son in my car.

Do you guys have any ideas?

Have you got a 7th gen? Not had a problem myself.

Try retracting your seatbelt just a bit (1-2 inches) then gently pull to extend. With mine if the seat belt is to short (extended just 10 inches or so) this wont work but if its longer it works every single time. On one occasion my boy somehow guided the seatbelt through the seat arm only and it tightened so much I almost broke the seat to releaese it.

Honda must have done something wrong with all that child seat support, its impossible to properly use isofix mountings on mine (the ones in back seat). So I use just belt for my seat...

Will def try it and let you know. I do agree with you that this seatbelt safety business is overboard.

Did you say that ISOFIX sucks on it as well? I am tempted in buying an ISOFIX car seat... please let me know.
