I'm planning a bit of a change around of the fleet at home and due to an increasing family headcount the priority is upgrading/upsizing the family transport (wife's car). My Accord is to be sold or p/x'd to provide some funds toward the replacement. This works for me as I need to buy something cheap and rugged for work, which occasionally requires off-road capability.
I've sold plenty of cars privately, but with much of the population obsessed with diesel power and keeping running costs to a minimum what are my chances of selling a 2.4 litre petrol car? I also know private selling can be a painful experience, so I'm not relishing the prospect. The trouble is the alternative of p/xing will probably yield significantly less £s than a private sale would.
The Accord is a cracking car and really good value for money for those of us 'in the know', but I'm imagining it is now a bit of a niche and may take a long time to attract a private buyer. I know we're only talking relatively small amounts of money in car buying terms, but I need to realise as much as I can toward the new one.
What would you do / have you done in similar circumstances?
(This is not a 'for sale' ad as this is on the horizon, but I'm not ready to do this yet).
