Hi folks,

I'm after some advice as my service is now due. My car is ex-fleet so has been pampered by Honda all its life. Service history tells me the 'big' service was completed at 75k including brake fluid and fuel filter change etc.

I'm now just coming up to 87.5k and phoned around both Bristol (where I live) and Swindon (where I work) Honda dealerships and got the following prices:

Bristol - £235.93 (free courtesy car)

Swindon - £254.30 or £170 for a 'level 1' service for cars out of warranty as mine is - not too sure what the difference is.

I'm not precious about keeping Honda stamps in the service book, but just wanted to check whether some of the extended warranty work (manifold etc) requires a full *Honda* history, or whether some of the other Bristolians I've seen around the forums could recommend (or advise against?) a Honda savvy indie? Am I right in thinking this is a basic fluids change so I could simply source the oil myself and take it to any old garage?

Thanks in advance and sorry if this has been covered - didn't see many hits for 'Bristol' other than people mentioning they're prepared to travel away from it for a good service!

It is a basic service yes, one which you can do yourself. As long as you keep records and receipts you should be fine regarding items covered under warranty extension. Bristol Honda are fairly good and the workshop manager is very approachable.

I do almost all my own work, by no means a pro but I like to have a crack. Just recently done a timing chain on a mates Almera. So can't recommend a indi but if you get stuck on anything give myself or Brett whose a mod on here a shout.

As sal said give us a shout if you need a hand.
As for Honda bristol it depends in what one as there are 2.
I haven't had good results from any.there are good reports from Howards Honda in WSM so this will be my next visit. Off corse if you want the best IMO go to HH

Tim I've used Howards Honda and can recommend them I'm not sure your Honda would be affected by the manifold problem anyway but in answer to your question mine didn't have a full Honda SH but I had my manifold replaced with no problems

Thanks - I've actually booked it into the Swindon place out of convenience/laziness (they are going to drop me off at work then collect me later).

Interesting to find they were actually the supplying dealer..!

Have to say I have just had my S2000 serviced at Howard's Honda in W-s-M and customer service was superb, so much so it convinced me to buy an Accord yesterday afternoon, will definitely use them again.
