Slider Bolts for Front Brake

So my car needs new slider bolts

The garage have quoted that they can only get them as part of the brake carrier kit....which is ****** expensive.

However, looking at Lings, I've found that I can buy the bolts seperate: Lings parts

Am I right in thinking I need part number PFKL609349 "Pin set, FR" and that will do both sides? £55.79 is a lot cheaper than the £300 the locals quoted for parts!!! Still seems pricey for what is essentially 4 bolts.....
 
That's a Ling's part number... I've done the conversion (e.g. delete the '_pfk' in the URL) to show actual Honda part numbers... Honda PN so you can check prices with Holdcroft Honda.

Honda do sometimes use odd (non-metric) threads on brake components (certainly on tourer rears) so you probably are stuck with buying from Honda.
 
Yes that looks like what you need, 4 slide pins are shown so that should do it. Obviously check with Holdcroft or local Honda dealer to ensure that is the case.

Are you able to DIY this? You might find that a clean up and re-lube with a rubber safe grease will do in conjunction with item 10 (Pin Boot set) if they have perished.
 
Was gonna DIY it.

Just checked with a company (bigg red) that do these and they stock them at £6.90 each! What a bargain!
So for £28 I may as well just replace them all!

You should get a quote from Holdcroft, their prices are usually less than Lings but doubt they will be better than Biggred. Just depends if you prefer OEM or third party, give or take ten or twenty quid.. ;)
 
Why did the garage advise you to replace the slider bolts?

Just grease them up good, insert rubbers into caliper then slide the bolts in. If I managed to do it, anyone can do it :D
 
Said they were worn and that was about it really.

I think if it stays dry this weekend I'll take a look myself. They might just need cleaning up and regreasing. If not, then I'll order some new ones.

Follow Nathylad's guide for the pads 6th gen brakes up until you hang the caliper out the way. Just be careful of the second bolt identified, thats actually the brake hose and banjo bolt in that image I've linked below.

If you look at the 2nd image 'The bolt on the top' - this is the same as the bottom bolt for reference (not the above one)

Obviously the caliper hex bolt and lug for the carrier (working from top down,) will be out the way by this point, leaving the slide pin end cap and rubber boot. Just pull the pin out by hand, the boot will hold it slightly so grab that with your other hand and either ease it from the carrier or from the pin. If you have new boots you'll be replacing it anyway.

Take the pin out, wipe it clean. I usually reinsert it here, wiggle it around a little to try and effectively scrape out any old dried lube. Do that a few times until you think its clear. Then re-lube the pin and put it all back together. The pins are location specific i.e. a top and bottom pin so just identify them when you take them out.

You might find the boots twist on removal or installation of the carrier bolts. You can usually grab the pin end cap with a spanner or I use needle nose vicegrips to hold the pin to stop them twisting.
