Ive just picked up a W plate 2.0 SE Exec and the clutch is slipping. Roughly speaking, how much should I expect to pay for its replacement. Had a look at the Honda Happiness page but dont want to shell out £615, thats nigh on what i paid for the car!

Don't think you'll get it much cheaper elsewhere and they won't use Honda parts :(

A good independent garage could replace the clutch on a 6th gen for half that price. I would hunt around. Maybe even buy a genuine clutch kit and get it fitted by a garage.

As far as I'm aware there is no subframe to remove on a 6th gen to do the clutch (happy to be corrected on this) and therefore the cost of labour will be much reduced. I'd say £150 labour maximum and £75 for a clutch?

Subframe does need to come off on the 6th gen unfortunately, except on the ATR.

Ah well there you go then.. still I'm sure an independant quality garage can do you a good deal, these are pretty old cars now.

You don't need to remove the subframe, you can slide the box back enought to get access to the clutch.

Yep Fahad is correct, on pricing, however a £75 clutch wont be Honda clutch or a good aftermarket one, My advice is get a Exedy OEM clutch

They are equal to Honda in my opinion for quality.

My brothers civic is a similar setup and I will be replacing the clutch myself as I don't think it's a hard job. There is no special tools involved on this job. The special alignment tool is only needed for the diesel 7th gen accord onwards.
Just get so quotes from independent garages that you know or trust. I don't think it needs to go to Honda but it is entirely up to you

As the guys said have a ring around for quotes. In Bristol we have a couple of clutch specialists and are far cheaper than dealers because this is all they do.

If Glasgow isn't too far Gerry at Performancetek is a helpful guy.

The same seller also has LUK clutches for the 6th gen, which are also very good. Although not listed, they do sell them, asked a few weeks since I have to buy one for mine.
