I've got an accord MK8 with the premium sound system. The stereo is good enough for me but my front left door speaker/middle dash speaker (i have faded them out but its a bit hard to tell) is getting a crackle more on low sound and on phone calls as well.

It seems to be less crackle when you turn it up. you can hear a faint distortion on bass and voice, best way to explain it is if like the radio is out of tune.

I did have water in my boot last year which I have cured (I'm ***uming its the amp under the boot floor near the back seats) wonder if this could have got damp near the connections

Its worse when Ive not used the car for a few weeks, but the more I use it the better it gets but its still faint.

Wondering what people are putting in for their door speakers when they are upgrading them as Honda want £100 for one front door speaker.

You should be able to find a broken car quite easily (a lot of them seem to be EX spec which will have the correct speakers etc) and get the breaker to remove the speakers you need and save a bit of money. There are separate tweeters/woofers in the doors so you'll need to check which one specifically is gone - maybe you can press your ear to it and figure that out.

I think the front is the same tourer/saloon, rear might change slightly but on amayama it says the following:

Door woofer speaker (front and rear the same)
39120-TL0-G01 SPEAKER ***Y. (17CM ND SINGLE) (ELS) (PANASONIC)
Door tweeter (just front doors)
39120-TL0-G11 SPEAKER ***Y., TWEETER (ELS) (PANASONIC)
Dash speaker
39120-TL0-G31 SPEAKER ***Y., SINGLE (8CM) (ELS) (PANASONIC)

You may be best pulling the panels off and measuring up - im not an expert with speakers but you often need adapters etc where the screw holes dont line up

You need the slim version for front doors to avoid issues with window clearance, everywhere else you can fit regular ACX 165. Going to need plastic adapter rings and harness adapters.
Swapped mine out for 165S about a year and and I'm very happy with how they sound, bit less bass but much nicer midrange - helps with the annoying V-shaped sound of the OEM speakers.

Cheers for this this is really helpful
It's wierd how to find it as it doesn't always do it.
Just used cd through multiplayer and ita not crackling.
It's usually certain songs and certain vocals
Phone calls seem crackly too
I get two different honda voice tones in my car (sat nav different to phone voice) one of these is distorting.
But cheers for this gonna have a good lookover weekend
