I have the basic standard cd/radio in my 2004 accord ctdi can I purchase the premium cd/radio and put it straight in or will it not work?

my cd player has now stopped working so only have radio

thanks in advance

It will work. The big difference is in the Sat Nav vs non-Sat Nav unit.

Bought the premium sound system but the sound is muted everything works but volume is very low on high

Found the amp but how do I connect it? Do I need to unbolt it as I can only see 3 yellow block connectors

never looked myself, might be an idea to try and get the amp out to take a closer look

No I just bought the premium sound head unit, as my standard unit wasn't working, surely there is a way around this, I can see a silver box under the ashtray with 3 yellow connector blocks and it's bolted in, don't know if this is it, also a single blue lose wire, was told on here it can be done now losing faitb

ah, there's your answer in #7, you need to obtain the amp as well.

I don't know what the "silver box under the with 3 yellow connector blocks" is, but I doubt if it's the amp

Do I have to match the part number of the head unit as I can't seem to find one,all coming in at 31986 or can I hook it up to a aftermarket amp

is 31986 a typo, looks like it should be 39186

you might be able to use an aftermarket amp, but if there are 4 outputs from the head unit, the amp will also need 4 inputs.

Plus the speaker arrangement in your car may be different as well (and that applies even if you get the "proper" amp)

Premium sound system has additional speakers in the rear doors so the oem will have outputs for speakers you don't have fitted. I would wire in an aftermarket job plus you'll probably want to upgrade the standard speakers if you havnt already as there crap quite frankly and won't stand up well to additional wattage (distortion).
If your not looking to be the loudest person in the car park and just want to improve sound quality with a little more bass/volume then just stick with the standard unit and put in some decent quality speakers and cabling.
Made a huge difference in my type s.

Sorry forgot to say
Bear in mind i mostly listen to artists like pink floyd, Ben Howard and the chilli peppers so my sound requirements may be quite different to yours!
