Noticed the steering had gone hard and notchy to steer on my Accord Ctdi , on inspection I found it empty of power steering fluid and when I re filled it was badly leaking / dripping from the end of the rack on the N/S , im now having to fill up daily

Ive located a steering rack from a breakers for £70 , are these hard to fit or any special tools needed , is there a DIY review on fitting one of these

Thanks

depends what tools and facilities you have access to. If you have a lift that makes life so easy.

i will ***ume you are like me and will do it at home with no lift.

To do this job you will have to attack it from the side and underneath so a good set of axle stands are essential for this job. From memory it looks like there is a great deal of space but from underneath you will have the sub frame to fight with, maybe it can be pulled out from the side?

i would expect for someone handy with spanners but never taking on this job before it would take a good part of a day to remove and refit

Im pretty good with the spanners , just have to put it on axle stands and get underneath it

I reckon you can do it then. Just be careful with the pipe work as the joints can split if bent too much. Maybe a writeup is in order ☺
