Sticking Headlight Flasher Solenoid

Hi

Every so often when I flash the headlights they stay on.

I have traced the problem (I think) to the solenoid situated in the same box as the fuses under the bonnet.

It is actually under the fuses and to get at it as far as I can see, you have to undo two electrical connections at one end of the fuse box before you can lift it off.

If I do this will I upset any electrics in terms of settings etc or can I just put it back as normal with no problems.

Any help appreciated as always.

You won't disturb anything. Is it where the high beam relay sits? But if it is a relay, it should not work at all, if faulty.

Thanks for your reply.

The only reason I say that is where the relay is, is because when the headlight flasher is activated on the steering wheel I can hear and feel a relay where I said it was. It doesn't stick all the time.

So when you say "I won't disturb anything" do you mean I won't do any damage to the cars electrical components If I disconnect the two cables leading in to the fuse box. There are no management chips or like fed from the fuse box that will not work again if disconnected.

You can check which is the relay for the flasher under the hood. On the relay cover from the inside there is a map of the location of the fuses and relays with graphics showing which is what. It might be that one relay is responsible for more than one item. But you won't damage anything by removing and testing.

Just in case you need to know, there are master relays under the hood, which are under the relay box. You have to unscrew the relay box and underneath it, you should see them.
 
That was exactly what I was asking crown_bg

I did say in my first post the relay was actually under the fuses and that was where I wanted to get too, but was concerned about disconnecting the electrical feeds in case I caused any problems
 
You shouldn't disturb anything. In case you have self-concerns just detach the Battery or just the Postivie Wire, which the red one.
 
I forgot to ask, but are you driving HID or H1 model? Do you have DRL installed, wired to the high or low beams by any chance?
 
^ DRL is not fitted as standard in the UK on 7th gen Accords, but more importantly, he's got a diesel, and the headlight relays on the diesel are in a small sub-box that hangs off the side of the main under-hood relay/fuse box

there are quite a few old threads on the same issue on diesels, somewhere
