I could'nt believe how good the stock setup is in my wifes mates 6th Gen, even just with a standard tape headunit the sound is very good, and to me my Bose system is no better, makes me wish I had the standard setup, as its would be easier to pull out and replace with an aftemarket kit, as you coould easily fit 6x9's in the rear shelf, wheras the Bose doesent have the speakers in the rear shelf (on the saloons), but in the rear doors instead, and that pointless sub

Such a high end audio company like Bose, what were they doing when the did that system :(

I honestly think that the audio systems in the 6th gen are adequate, nothing more.

I will always advise people the following - Remove any standard equipment and replace with a new HU, some 6x9s on the rear shelf and some 3 way 13cm coaxial speakers in the front doors.

If you then think that you would like some more bass then fit a 12" sub in the boot with a suitable amp.

I plan to do something with the speakers, I will change them in all the doors first and go from there, I'd love to fit 6x9's in the rear shelf however I don't want to butcher the rear shelf as there in nothing cut out for speakers, just the sub in the middle

I did find an interesting thread the other day about using the remote lead from the back of the aftermarket headunit to power the stock amp and sub, I dont' know if that works though :(

I think it can be done. I have heard of people doing this. There is a member on here that may know. I forget his username but will find out and let you know.

That would be great mate, as if its not too much of a headache to do I will defo be doing it, the sound is flat and awful without the sub and amp.

I did manage to build a hard drive from an old ps3 HD and managed to get it working with the headunit so would be great to have a decent sound from the headunit
