Bought car a week ago with after-market HU installed (kenwood doofer). First thing I did was whip it out and put in my trusty Woodstock DAB 52. Unfortunately, the DAB aerial converter I had didn't work with the stock aerial so ordered a glass-mount aerial off eBay. Installed it yesterday and have to say I'm really impressed with the stock speakers that are installed in the car. Only thing I think I'll install is a sub in the boot. Apart from that, i've had it up to 40/50 on the volume control without any distortion at all.

Haven't even had to mount the DAB aerial, it just sits neatly in the passenger corner of the windscreen without the external counterpart and works well.

Happy Days!!

Only thing I have ATM is FLI 6.5" so I'm ***uming stock accords are much better than them haha...

From other people's points of view (including you Shiny!), is it worth installing aftermarket speakers, be it 6.5" or 6x9"s and having them amplified or not (HU is 4x50 watt RMS) or whether it's ample having amped 10" sub in the boot?

Hi mate, I have a Type R replica, Sub sounds good but gotta remember theres a lot of rattle from the boot when the sub is working full blast

Also Can you tell me how you installed a DAB aerial and what head unit you have, as I just have a basic headunit temporarily, although my Sub set up is 2 12" Pioneer subs lol

The aerial I got was from an auction site item number 120972822994 (are links allowed??).

The idea is the two parts have sticky pads that stick on either side of the windscreen. I was going to put it above the rear-view mirror but when I was testing it out I found that even just by having the small black box right in the corner of the windscreen, sitting on the dash just under the tax disc, I had decent reception so have left it there for now and haven't done anything with the external part. Cable just slipped in round the edge of the dash and up under passenger footwell. Will put up a picture later.

The HU I have is a Blaupunkt Woodstock DAB52. A bit old now, had it for 8-9 years but it's still in great condition.

Personal opinion alert!!

Get some pioneer 4 way replacements. They are able to cope with my Slipknot and Vivaldi equally well and that's at what some people call 'silly volume' lol.

good personal opinion! also stick the sub in the boot and blast out the tunes ;)

That's the sub back in. Only problem is I've misplaced the stereo pre-out cable so will need to wait til the new one comes :(
Cables are just sitting nicely behind the HU waiting to be connected when it comes.

When running the power to the battery, I noticed the earth cables had seen better days. This is the one connected to the alternator:

Replaced both earth cables with some 4 AWG cable I picked up from halfords (luckily was very cheap at 90p per meter down from £6.99) along with some nice new battery terminals.
