Strange Electrical Gremlins

Hi,

I wonder if anyone has suffered from this strange fault.

I was driving yesterday from Cardiff to West Wales, all was well and my Accord (Pre facelift 2.2 Diesel Ex + NAV Tourer) was running normally as usual.

Stopped at the services for a couple of mins, when rejoining to Motorway I discovered my washer jets has stopped working "I must have run out" I though, only I topped them the day before. It was only 20 mins to go so we carried on and once we arrived I discovered the following faults had all arrived at once:

No high beams or indicators - but the headlights work and hazard warning lights work.
Outside temp reads as ---c
Screen washer jets don't work - but headlight washers do.
Aircon / Heater works in-so-far as it gets hot / cold - but the fans aren't to push the air around.
Central Locking doesn't work, and boot won't unlock ether manually or electronically.
Dash light that shows the lights are on doesn't work and dash lights don't dim when lights on.
Auto wipers don't work, but will work on manual.
Rear jet and wiper doesn't work.

It seems a strange collection of faults - I have asked an Auto Electrician to come, but he's booked until Friday and I can't drive it in this state. I checked all the little coloured fuses, but there were a few things in the fuse box I didn't recognise so left alone, also whilst not 'intermittent' it does occasionally all work again, for maybe 5 seconds or so - handy as I had a boot full of expensive Mountain Bikes I needed to get out.
 
My spidey senses tell me to check the plug behind the steering column. But I can't remember where the thread is that discussed it before. I'll see what I cab find when I get back to office.
 
Hello again, still not go this resolved.

Funny story really, met the auto electrician, he got in the car, plugged in the laptop, removed all the old fault codes (18!!!) re-started the car and..... it all worked fine. He explained very occasionally simply having a raft of fault codes on can cause a few problems - didn't even charge me happy days, I get in the car, drive off and.... you guessed it, they all came back. :(

He came back to me, got in the car, and... it all worked fine, he reset it again (only 3 faults this time) and away I went, as soon as I started it - they all came back. By then we'd run out of time as he had somewhere to be and promised to speak to a guy he knew, who knew everything about Hondas.

It was only when I got home I realised why it was always working when he tried it - the faults only happen when the drivers door is closed!! I tried a few things and it's all happens when the little rubber switch that tells the car the drivers door is closed is pressed down - doesn't effect the other doors, just the drivers one and it's the switch rather than the door itself.

I've spoke to him today and he thinks it's probably the "body control module" I'm sure he said - should I contact my bank manager to expect a shock?
 
eeerrr... what were the codes dude?

Dunno what a body control module is - will have a look later.
 
The second set of codes (the first list were long and veried and he said they were probably old). were along the lines of "left stalk lost contact with xx" "Right stalk lost contract with xx" and "central locking failure".

I'm told a BCM or Body Control Module works with the ECU, running things like central locking, lights, Sat-Nav etc. It's a 'computer in a box' like an ECU only smaller - it also holds the mileage information. Sounds painfully expensive, although no one seems to sell them - online anyway.
