Strange problem with tourer boot door (tail gate?)

hi forum,
My 2005 has been having a very odd problem with the electric openings of the boot door. I can open the boot fine from the key fob but the door with open fully and then stay open for a few seconds then give a long beep and close. The strangest part is if the car has been in the sun the door with sometimes stay open and will close when requested....

Any ideas?

I had a similar problem on mine a few years ago, it had already had a replacement tailgate motor the year before and opening mechanism. The consensus was that the gas struts needed replacing, with yours staying open when warm, I'd hazard that is your problem. I have here a brand new set of struts that I never got around to fitting before getting rid of the car...PM me if you'd like them.
