Stupid question but has my car got the wrong tyres?

Its a 2006 diesel Exec with std 16 inch alloys. Is the correct tyre size 205/55 or 215/60? all tyre websites say 205/55, as does the sticker behind the door, but mine has 215/60 fitted all round (by the prev owner). They are budget winter tyres and I hate them - but need to make sure I'll be putting the correct summer tyres on

205-55-16 is stock, Mine came with 17 but I couldn't stand the harsh ride and went back to 16" wheels,
215 60 will be a little taller in sidewall height and probably give a nicer ride than 205-55 tyres.
The difference in diameter is 5.1% not enough to really worry about.

The do look a little thick in the sidewalls. I suspect that the previous owner lived out in the sticks so would have benefitted. They are down to about 3mm so will be changing soon. 205/55 is much cheaper
