Guys,

Noticed my temp gauge wasn't working, so gave it a gently tap and all was good but it seems I need to do this all the time for it to work. Anybody have this problem or even ideas what's causing the problem?

Cheers in advance.

<edit> Never mind, I was on a completely different planet!

It's the resistor on the back of the gauge. Due to it failing, it will read fine until the temperature runs hot or cold enough for it to make a drastic change on the gauge, so where as a normal gauge would rise or fall in small manners, the failing resistor causes it to over-read the data and essentially exaggerate the readings it is getting.

As for the fix, there are a few companies who will take your gauges and fit a new resistor etc but it's pretty costly. When it happened to my other 6G, I just ignored it as all I had to do was give the dash a tap if I was concerned about the temperature.
