Tourer tailgate error light/dead

Hi
My tourer tailgate has just started playing up. I went to open the boot with the fob and dead, I tried manually and dead, had to climb in the boot and use the release catch. I searched the forums and found the reset procedure and it works great for a day or so and then it happens again, and again, and again. I've taken it to a garage who stripped out the boot lock/switch system and cleaned it and checked for damaged wires and said it was fixed and tested fine all day but when I picked the car up I started the car no problems, checked the boot manually with the handle and it would not close, on came the error light and it had to be reset again. Both me and the mechanic stood miffed I really need some advice please

No help so far Come on honda enthusiasts please help a rookie out... Update the boot started working again and then stopped, started bleeping twice when trying to open it and failed to open - after resetting ECU and opening manually have found out the the door close button on the tailgate is still lit but no longer works although the tailgate error light is not on!

i had a friend plug a snap-on diagnostic error reading machine into the ECU yesterday and no errors were reported We both stood confused

This is driving me and our kids insane and the dog got locked in the boot earlier - i really need any advice you have out there - Thinking about selling the car due to the inconvenience this is causing us which i don't want to do... please help

I suggest that one of the tailgate limit switches needs adjustment (or replacement). There was a very detailed thread on the forum about 2 months ago when another member had a similar problem

Hi Davroz i had this problem a couple of yrs ago can be an expensive fix upto 2k of Honda the ECU was giving me the fault of needs new tailgate ecu i got 1 of ebay never cured, in the end i drilled a hole at the side of the left handside number plate through to the inside of the tailgate and ran some washing line through a bit of tubing along the inside of the tailgate then attached to the manual catch, then fixed a little handle to the outside of the tailgate a gentle pull and it opens, works perfect, but obviously you will be drilling a hole in your car.
Never bothered me, im sure there's other ways to do, i was at a loss and was not prepared to splash out.
