Hi all

I am needing a Tow Bar put on my Accord Saloon Exec. I was thinking of doing it myself after getting a quote for £450.00 + £150 if I want some clever connection terminal. Does anyone know of a good guide to how to remove the back bumper (which does have parking sensors). Does anyone know of the special terminal block I should tie into and if so do the Accords have it as standard?

Any advice would be great.

Stephen i had mine fitted by Honeyfield trailers in Bristol and they were great.I think i paid £400 but this was with the detachable tow bar at extra cost.Hear is a link and there workmanship was brilliant indeed.

If it's any use, I have some pictures in the link below

Note that this is a 7th gen Tourer, and the under body of the Tourer is different from the Saloon.

However, the basic way that the bumper is held is similar. Rear bumper comes off very easily, more easy than the front bumper.

You have to lower the exhaust at the back to get enough access to fit the reinforcement. If your car is the 2.4 with twin exhausts, lowering them is more difficult than the single exhaust on the 2.0 and 2.2.

Finally, the "special terminal block" is an electronic device, because the system sends pulses to the lights and if you "plumb" caravan/trailer lights direct to the wiring, the electronics in the car system will see low impedance and throw a wobbly.

The best way and proper way is to take 2 feeds if twin electrics directly from the battery.
With inline fuses to protect the cable.

Thanks for the help. I can see this is not going to be so easy as I hoped. Electrics is always going to be the tricky bit.
