Appears the new Tourer has a few more 'issues' than I originally picked up!

Latest one to be discovered is a filling up problem. Despite my greatest efforts, I can't get a tank full in it according to the gauge and my wallet :)

I'm not 100% sure the gauge is starting in the right place, which would mean I'm filling up when the tank has got more fuel in than indicated, which would be one explanation for not getting the amount in that I think it should take. Incidentally the fuel warning light doesn't work. Now this could be just a bulb but I don't really want to pull the clocks out to check or it could be that the needle isn't in the right place, which would suspiciously indicate somebody has been in there for some reason.

Other possibility I've just thought of is an issue with the fuel sender unit itself. Anyone know if this is/has been an issue on 7th gen tourers? I tried a few searches and didn't find anything to indicate a problem.

Cheers

Is it a facelift?
Where is the dial in relation to the empty marker when you fill it up?

Just compared it to my broken Tourer (both 04 cars) and the fuel and temp gauges are approx 5 degrees further anticlockwise at rest in the new one! I can't think of a technical reason for this, other than somebody has been in there tampering, which makes me very suspicious.

Anyone know where the mileage info is stored? in the clock unit or ECU?

I don't know but I've never heard of these cars being easy to clock - I'm sure it could be done if you really wanted to but don't think it's common at all. Most likely taken apart for some other reason and not put back properly.

guess I'm gonna have to pull them out and see what's going on. Another job to put on the growing list!!

Can't you swap clusters to check, it's very easy iirc two srews under the cowling and it pops out and then simply unplug the harness.

I really don't know if this applies to our Accords, but certainly in Fords and Vauxhalls a while back both the temp gauge and the fuel gauge were fed from a common voltage regulator... this was/is done to ensure that the reading stay constant if the battery voltage wanders about due to alternator output and electrical loads being switched on or off.

thanks for the replies guys.

So, pulled the clocks from the new Tourer. Somebody definitely been in there, as one screw missing and one incorrect. Stripped the back off the clocks, the stepper motors for the gauges are soldered to the mainboard, so fixed in position. Can't see any evidence of anything being repaired, so bit of a mystery as to why it's been played with.

Solution was to pull the needles off the motor spindles, align to a position that matched the gauges in the old Tourer and push them back on and reassemble the whole lot.

Two things to confirm now. One, the fuel light comes on when the gauge goes down and secondly, the gauge is where it should be when I fill up.
