Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has any experiences with turbo cartidges which you can buy on ebay for ~160 quid? Is it better to have the job done by a turbo workshop? I immagine that they do the same as I would do: change the core and keep the body if it isn't damaged.

I don't even know if I have a problem. Turbocharger on my 2005 CTDi Tourer ex is quite loud in cold mornings. When the weather is warmer than ~15°C you almost can't hear it at all. You also can't hear it when the angine gets warm. I've been driving this car for three years now and it's not getting worse over time.

Oil changes are regular, at 7000km, 0w30.

Does it whistle at about 1500 rpm? mine does from start up but soon goes a way as the engine warms up. Also you are using 0-30 fully synth oil, this keeps things a bit quieter.

And I wouldn't diy this. They need calibrating when rebuilt and actuator needs resetting.

edgeof time: I have exactly the same situation. The oil is fully synth (I think I bought Shell oil the last time) and makes everything much quieter after every oil change.

OK, nice to hear that this is not a problem. If the turbo dies in the future I apparantly won't DIY it.

Thanx to all of you.
