What's new

type r headlights

There would be wiring involved as atr lights are xenon hid's. You'd need a place to put the ballasts and have to sort out the auto leveller somehow.

Exactly what Mohammad has said mate.

And TBH they aren't even that great.

Nope, the sport lights are clear with black tint or something on the surrounds of the headlight and look really nice.

For ATR lights you need a leveller on the rear o/s wheel, the ecu under the dash and then leveller motors in the headlights.

Then get ****ed off when one of your lights constantly point to the floor with yet another generic Accord problem that Honda constantly deny.

All that for ***** HIDs that aren't as good as normal headlights with decent bulbs.

i suppose your right its more trouble than its worth thanks for the advice lads it was a good help.

I have Sport CG8, the headlights look very similar to ATRs.
I installed HIDs and it looks very nice.

I'd like a set of Accord Sport headlamps for my SE Exec.

Not paying all that money for them though!

I've always wondered if you can't just separate the standard clusters and then spray paint the surrounds black whilst leaving the reflectors. Seen it done on Preludes, I imagine this would produce the same results,

It can be done. They need to go into the oven and be baked.

It's a PITA but it can be done. TBH will be cheaper to by the black lights from the sport.

It's the oven baking that puts me off, it'd probably be the last straw for my girlfriend to come into the kitchen to find me cooking a headlight in the oven  I don't want to push her over the edge since tonight she just agreed to us selling the Xsara and buying a second Prelude

Does anyone know if there are aftermarket halo/projector clusters available for the UK 6th gen? I've seen them for US models but not sure if they're the same shape as they have a slightly different front end to us...

They're not available for the UK spec modal. You can buy the silly rings that stick onto the lights to make it look like you've got angel eyes, but really????? I mean, WTF.

bet they'd look chavtastic

On another forum I saw a 5th gen Prelude have the inner parts of the headlight carbon wrapped, that was pretty damn sexy. I wonder if the Accord could pull it off

Cheers for the help Leon! B)

hahahaha, yup, but she looks all the better for it mate!

Weirdly enough I've been pondering this idea in the last few hours and come to the conclusion that I'd rather split my existing lights and colour the surrounds myself. I've just installed all new super white bulbs which makes a huge difference to how the front end looks at night! I've had experience with splitting headlights before with my corsa, pug and E36. Sometimes you can cut the sealant out and sometimes you need to low-temp bake for approx 20 mins to get them apart. I could always write a tutorial when I get round to doing it?

I will put my tutorial up in the 6th gen bit for you to see, I did not paint mine due to the heat, I rubbed all the chrome stuff off, takes a loooong time bit it looks good when finished!

Peeps i just want to point out that if you have a look at Leons 6th in the Members Gallery section, then follow his How-Tos, you won't really go far wrong.
