Type S 2.4 lower Dashboard Cubby keeps opening

Hi

I don't know if this is a common fault but the lower dashboard cubby keeps opening while I'm driving. Seems like the mechanism is weak or something.

It's the large storage box in the lower dashboard just in front of the great lever.

Does anyone know of a fix for this? It's driving me mad!!

It's got quite an elaborate mechanism on the side of it. I'd whip it out and see whats happening. It's quite easy to get out, search the forum for xcarlink installation instructions and it will tell you how to get it out. Took mine out the other day, took 4 minutes max.

Really simple.

Pull the handbrake surround off
Pull the gear surround up
Undo ashtray screws
Undo Cubby screws
Swear for 2 minutes whilst trying to get the cubby out
