Ive got the chance to buy the factory sat nav system fitted into the Type V 6th gens for my Exec

Before I decide on it I just wanted to ask a couple of questions, the guy is selling the sat nav itself, the disc drive, headunit and cd changer

Do I just need the nav and the drive and would it be plug and play into my existing headunit (the bose type)?

And would it effect Xcarlink?

Cheers for any info

I had a look into this myself, I think you also require the loom running from the dash to the disc drive, and you also need the GPS receiver unit. Lings have the diagram and parts list on their website, you just need to sign up and you should be able to view it by manually selecting an Accord Type-V in the parts section. You'll need all the components listed in order to get the system up and running properly, as far as I'm aware. Bear in mind also that the Nav will only be as up to date as the most recent disc available for that system - I'm not sure how long Honda would have supported it after the 6th gen was discontinued in 2003, maybe someone with nav on here knows??

I remember a friend dong this install many years ago. However it did not work properly. He seemed to think there was no speed input. So the system would jump from point to point rather than be a smooth track.
Its a big task tbh and I would only take it on if you have access to the donor car and all its loom etc. You'll find as you go along you will need more parts off the donor car.

Thanks for the info guys :)

Yeah the more i'm thinking about the more im going off the idea, I offered him 50 quid for it but the vibe im getting is he doesent know much about the system, I can see it being a doorstop

To be honest it is a lot of work, and it's a rather outdated system. Your best bet would be to buy the nav, and use the screen as an output source for a DVD player.

If you are desperate for a nav, I would pick up a secondhand Garmin or other...They can be had cheap enough nowadays!
