Upgrading headlights

Hi all.
My headlights, not main beam, seem to be really quite poor. Is there a way to improve them without going down the hid route? I dont understand all that ballast stuff and I am definately a rubbish electrician!
Can I just upgrade the bulbs?

All advice welcome.

Hi try fitting the 50% brighter lamps made by ring, fitted them to mine and the beam is whiter and a lot better.(it recommends that beam is set after fitting).

Have a look at HID's mate, the kits are cheap enough on ebay and easy enough to fit if your a some what DIY'er

get some mad expensive PIAA bulbs, they're the business but they can cost the same as a HiD kit!!!

Mine were really bad, almost an MOT failure, took a look at the bulbs and they were blackened at the base, fitted new bog standard bulbs and we are back in business.
