Hi Guys, I am still in a state of shock. The VSA and yellow triangle came on over the weekend, and I've just had Ash Honda (Yeovil) run a diagnostic test - £42. There were various codes:
61.1 battery voltage
17.1 12.1 14.1 18.1 speed sensor faiures and......
66.1 brake pressure senor failure.
They cleared all the fault codes, except the 66.1 and quoted a new VSA modulator at £1910.04 inc. They didn't even offer me a chair before telling me! The quote breaks downs as follows:
Parts £1692.84 inc
Labour £193.20 inc
Brake fluid £24.00 inc
Total £1910.04 inc
The car has done 81k and is 7 years old, so it is not covered by the TSB SK-07-007-00 extension of warranty for VSA modulator failure. I have asked the dealer to contact Honda UK to see if there might be any goodwill, but while the car has a full service history, the last 2 annual services were carried out by an independent.
I am annoyed because when the TSB was issued, on 1 Nov 2010, my car qualified by time and mileage, and the TSB clearly states the failure of the VSA modulator presssure sensor is ..."due to a production fault at the supplier" So why wasn't a general recall issued?
I'm not sure what my options are, I suppose I could:
Try and find a recon unit and get it fitted by an independent?
Remove/disable the VSA and yellow triangle lamp bulbs? Is this even possible?
Try and find a cheaper quote from another Honda dealer?
Any advice welcome......
