Hi guys,

I have moved to South Africa a bit more than a year ago and I have shipped my Euro R here from the UK.

I need to replace my rear wheel bearings and I just want to make sure I can buy any of the lets say Ebay listed bearings that also falls under CL7 status.. There's no special sensors / etc that is wheel hub specific..?

The other thing, I see one can buy a wheel hub and bearing kit, rather than just the bearing. Its probably a more straight forward replacement when one goes that route, especially if one plan to do it yourself..

Thanks in advance for any advise.

Best Regards
Nico

Disclaimer: I don't know your exact model.

Rear bearings generally need a press to replace. If the car has trapped rotors this can be a bit of a die and support puzzle, and given the forces involved, a little dangerous.

Hubs with bearings already in place are the way to go unless you have access to a shop.

re sensors: aren't the ABS rings on the hub?

Just replace hubs, Abs rings are on them. Is physically possible to replace just bearring but its not worst to bother.

Hi guys,

Thanks a lot for your reply. My car was imported straight from Japan to the UK. It is a 2003 Honda Accord Euro R CL7. I now live in South Afirca and shipped the car car the UK to SA.

Not everyone ships to South Africa, but his looks like it could fit.

Hi Nico,

Not sure if you've replaced these yet but strangely I just decided to start keeping blog posts of all the car maintenance / repair work my dad walks me through for myself and others.

First post is on changing rear bearings on my 05 Saloon. Those looks correct to me!

Post is here if its useful: http://louisc.co.uk/?p=2748

I think you need to check the first 6 characters on the VIN o your car.

If the first 6 characters in the car's VIN are JHMCL7 then AFAIK the rear bearings on the car will be same as for any 7th gen saloon.

Note that when searching, some sellers confuse US Accord with EU Accord. The latter is made in Japan and starts "JHM" in the VIN , which is Acura TSX in the US. Accord in the US is different on almost everything, including the "gen" years.
