Hey all

I picked up a 09 petrol accord with 122k miles last month. Runs ok but has a few issues that need dealing with.

Theres a clunking sound when moving the steering wheel at idle or low speeds and when coming to a standstill

The clutch squeaks quite badly and gears are hard to engage sometimes, I'm finding that the clutch has to be pressed all the way down to change gear, and reverse gear is hard to get out of sometimes. makes it a bit of a chore to drive.

Theres a low humming noise at around 60-65mph not sure if its coming from the front or back

When I press the AC button it idles terribly and can hear it clicking on then off.

The car seems to drift a little sometimes its very subtle i almost don't notice it until I'm close to another car. I’m not sure if its just me though

so… full service aside what could these issues be and which issue do I need to take care of first?

Any advise would be much appreciated.

Took it a Honda specialist near me and had all fluids, filters and spark plugs changed also noticed the NSF ball joint needed replacing so did that too.

Car runs great now, they didn't know what to do about the squeaky clutch though so its still there (very annoying) gear changes are much easier now but still not perfect, it pops out of gear occasionally and gears are still difficult to engage at times.

Could it be clutch issues? worn synchros?

Good to hear it’s on the mend. I’d get the offside lower ball joint replaced as well for piece of mind.

Regarding the clutch squeak, if you can pinpoint where abouts it’s coming from that would be a great help. For example if it’s from the back of the engine bay/behind the clutch pedal, you may just need the master cylinder replacing, but if it’s from the front of the engine bay then it could be a number of different issues with the clutch itself that are potentially more costly. However the popping out of gears is probably a sign that a new clutch is the way to go.

Thanks mate really appreciate the reply.
Ill get the off side ball joint done next month then.

How much (approx) would I be looking at for a new clutch including fitting?
