Morning to all :)!
Well long story short I heard a horrible knocking sound from
underneath the car which is more noticeable when the car has been running for a while so decided to take it to a garage to have it inspected! Had the car put on the ramp as raised only to be told that the cat is gone and something about the inside being worn out and he showed me by slightly hitting the cat and the same noise came back! So I know the cat needs replacing but then we hit another problem!!

The nuts/bolts connecting the cat to both sides (mid pipe & downpipes I believe) have rusted/corroded and will snap if tried to separate! So I was then advised that I needed a full exhaust system from downpipes
I have been toying with the idea of getting a catless exhaust with twin exit (currently single exit) but do not know about downpipes or where I would get the parts from! I want something aftermarket but not stupidly loud, but loud enough for me to enjoy the vtec! Mid sport maybe?

Also I have installed two great big subwoofers (can see them in the gallery) and it has lowered the back due to the weight which has now made the front higher than the back! So I would like to know how I can lower the front a little bit because I don't want to damage the bumper etc scraping off speed bumps etc! I don't want to spend too much on these parts as the accord is my second car and most of my attention and money has gone towards the other car :(

Any help would be appreciated! Sorry for Rampling on, terminology isn't exactly great!

Cat gone- are you absolutely sure??? Had the same problem some years ago and it turned out to be the heat shield! Check again, it could be just loose.

Well that's what my dad said too but it's the cat! Sounds very bad when it's warm at idle and sounds really bad when I just raise the clutch to the bite and the car vibrates! The only noise is from the cat!

well id sack the guy off and take it to a custom exhaust place. a high flow cat is like 70 quid and they can weld new flanges on.

take the subs out or rethink your box design

Can you maybe get a picture of your cat so we can see the external state?
what miledge is the car?

I will take pictures soon! The mileage is about 67000 on a 2007 2.0 petrol

If its just the nuts and bolts that have corroded, can't they just grind them off or is it that the cat and pipes are corroded too?

As for lowering the front, just chuck of few bags of cement in the passenger footwell for an instant and cheap effect!

Haha great thinking mate! I was thinking more along the lines of lowering kits? Can you get lowering springs only for the front because the back is low enough

You could get some lowering springs and only fit the front ones but you might find that fitting the rear ones too could give the rear end more support

how much do the sub-woofers weigh, are the magnets in them from a neutron star ??

I might as well get a full set of lowering springs but lower the front more than back! I have two type r alpine 12" subwoofers in a custom alpine spec'd box! Heavy enough to take the back down abit

Lowered springs will be slightly stiffer than standard ones anyway so you probably won't see anymore of a drop at the back with them on.
Tbh, I wouldn't want to drive a car with lowered springs on the front and not on the back, it will be very unbalanced

Booked in to get exhaust sorted and ordering lowering springs today or tomorrow

My bet is the heat shield... not the cat..

Never heard of a Honda cat failing on such a low mileage car before!

Surely the subs aren't that heavy that they lower the car noticeably???
