I've tried searching for ATF and Automatic Transmission Fluid but I'm getting nothing.

My 2l petrol auto needs it's ATF changed and the service manual says only to use Honda ATF. Is this the only option? I haven't priced Honda or 3rd party ATF, just want to know if there are any other options.

In a word - Yes.

You can find compatible fluids but in truth whoever has tried them has always come back to the Honda transmission fluids.

Just buy it from Honda it's not that expensive really. Use our affiliated dealer (Holdcroft Honda Stoke) and tell them you are a TA member for the discount.

Yes, as Fahad says.

This applys to manuals too, and its across the board on nearly all Hondas for that matter.

I have to say dexron 4 works ok  but its never worth skimping on your Manual or Automatic transmission, like the guys said you will end up switching back and I would say 6-12 months trust me  ATF-Z1 is most commonly used, but if your getting hard shifting ATF-Z1 p/n: 0826699902HE rarely cures this anyway :( so I would suggest upgrade the fluid to ATF-DW1  known in my book as the miracle cure :D p/n: 0826899901HE

Thanks. Just wanted to be sure there wasn't a better/cheaper option.

Will have a look at HH but since I'm based in Ireland it may be cheaper to just buy here.

It's shifting fine, I got it 2nd hand with no service history so figured I'd better change it. May stick in the miracle cure if it's not too much more.

All I need is decent weather.
