Hello guys, new honda owner and forum member here.
I have a 2012 accord cw1 with 2.0 i vtec petrol engine. Car has about 1120.000kms on clock now. I have bought it about a month ago, previous owner did say if you drive this car hard it could impact oil consumption, but not by a lot, like a normal consumption for honda engines, he said he had a one liter reserve of engine oil for oil change interval, about 10k kms.
Anyway, as always when i buy a car i do an oil and filter change. Bought myself a mobil 1 ESP 5w30 oil and oil filter, along with air filter ofc. Mechanic (which i didn't know from earlier as i never owned a honda) changed it, i checked oil level and it was at max. About 300kms later and level of oil fell down about 1/3 of the way. Right now i have driven about 600kms and already had to top up about 800ml of engine oil, it seem it really drinks oil as crazy. I am not a slow driver, but also never abuse my car to redline or rev limiter and also always wait for engine to warm up. There is a bit of white smoke when car is cold, when i really press on a gas pedal didn't really see any smoke when car heated up.
Timing chain is quiet, there is no black sludge when i looked through oil cap, there are no leaks in my driveway, engine is pretty quiet and carbon buildup in exhaust isn't really wet, just black. Service history is know when it was serviced at honda in warranty period, also when it was out of warranty, max 10k km oil change intervals.
I already did look at pcv valve, got it out, it did click and wasn't really stuck, i cleaned it anyway. Spark plugs were changed about 30-40.000km ago, i will add a picture, they have a grey ash on them which does indicate higher oil consumption.
Does anyone have any other ideas what could this be or is this engine bad? Did anyone try piston soak on these honda engines, does it help? I know they started using low friction piston rings but not sure if r20a3 engines are also affected?
Thanks in advance guys.
