Hey there,

None of our Australian variants came with rear fog lights from the factory. Since I’m getting Spirior taillights, which have rear fog lights, I thought it would be a good idea to install one.

I can wire everything up, but I also wanted to get the rear fog light dash indicator on. I looked at the EU service manual and found out that the R9 pin on the R connector behind the driver’s side MICU is actually the pin that indicates to MICU whether the rear fog light is on. So, I put a pin and a wire on that R9 pin on the R connector and tried grounding it (the same logic as the front fog light, where the R10 pin gets grounded when the front fog light is on). Unfortunately, the light indicator didn’t light up on the dash.

I was wondering if there’s more logic to it that I need to figure out to make the indicator work. Or, it could be that our MICU doesn’t have a program that can detect when the rear fog light is on.

Do you have the stock activation for the rear fog light in place? On the gen7 the rear fog light is switched on and off by a momentary switch one click (fraction of a rotation) further than the front fog lights, of the secondary ring on the light and indicator stalk/ But it does not work stand-alone. The main lights have to be on parking or driving light for the fog lights to power on.

I would have ***umed the switch, wiring and connectors for rear fog light (normally only single one I think) to be in place, with perhaps just the wedge bulb missing from the AU dash.

None of the AU model came with rear fog light hence nothing on the stalk either.

I had the lights on when i was testing it but i think my BCM (MICU) is missing firmware to let the dash know. The bulb is definitely there as it comes on when i run the dash diagnostics and im also using EU dash not my AU dash (even though AU had the bulb in there) so ***uming its the firmware missing on BCM
