    Accord Mileage Database

Ok, so I'm a bit late throwing my hat in here.... 1st Accord was a '98 R plate (5th gen, I think) 2.0i SE EXEC. Think all the badges came about simply because it was right on the model change and Honda were trying to empty the parts bins! Anyway, I kept that one for 5 years during which time I...

Time to check your tyre pressures

Thanks for that Brett, mine is an 8th gen diesel on the 18" Sigmas....for some unknown reason, Honda have only put the pressures for 17" rims on the door jam and even in the handbook. Are the pressures you quoted for the saloon or tourer?

    Aftermarket HIDs on 8th gen

Seriously? The bumper has to come off? What happened to the good old days when all front bulbs could be got at from the engine bay! Cheers for the info Brett, what mounting locations are there for the ballast units?

    Auto folding mirrors

Hi Guys, I noticed in another topic (may have been the one dealing with the Engine Start button) that someone had modified the power folding mirrors on a Civic to operate automatically and was intending to do the same thing to an 8th gen Accord. Does anyone know if the mod was carried out...

    Aftermarket HIDs on 8th gen

Sorry if I've missed the answer to this in a previous thread, but as we all know Honda omitted HID lights unless you specified the GT Pack or went for the Type S. Having done the upgrade on my old CL7, I'm keen to do it on the 8th gen, but between looking under the bonnet and reading the manual...

    Feul consumption

For what's its worth, my old CL7 2l iVtec, with the auto box, used to do 26mpg round town....could get as high as 37 on a long motorway run if I stuck religiously to 70. My new 8th gen iDtec is AVERAGING 44 under the same conditions. If you're doing lots of short trips, look for a petrol...

    2.0 iVTEC Service

If I were you, I'd get the genuine Honda oil filter. They can be got from the local dealer for not much more than the Unipart or similar items. Due to the higher than average oil pressure in a Vtec engine, other filters can tend to break down and fill your oilways clogged with bits of paper.

Going to view this Accord Type S

If economy is a big thing for you....go for the i-CDTI. I've had a 2.0 i-vtec and round town, I got 26mpg. On a motorway I could get it up to 35 it I stuck rigidly to 70mph. Granted, mine had the auto box and doubtless the manual would do a bit better, but the petrol Accords really aren't the...

Extracting power from the 2.0 petrol

I've had a 2.0 I-Vtec for just over 6 years and often thougt about trying to get a little more out of it. Following much research, the general advice is DON'T MESS WITH IT! That engine is pretty much as good as it gets when it leaves the factory. Sure, you could spend a boat load of cash messing...
