I can see you can buy 2nd ones for around £300 on eBay, is that worth a punt or just foolish?

Hi, Just been told by my garage that the turbo is split on my 11 plate 199k mile Tourer, it's been running fine otherwise, is it worth getting a new turbo or cut my losses? It's going to cost £1000 which seems a bit steep. Cheers

Hi, thanks for all the advice. As I'm keeping my car for a long time I'm reluctant to pay £1000 for a DPF that might only last 5 years. If it was a more reasonable cost then perhaps there wouldn't be so many DPFs being removed. The nearest place to remove DPFs for me is Avon-Tuning. A question...

Not yet. I just want to be prepared for when it does come on. And if I decide to remove the dpf then I might as well go ahead before the light comes on. That reminds me, I thought I'd read that a dpf removal can't be done with the light on. Is this right? Cheers

Well I've been out again and tried some quick acceleration in different gears and it's been fine so hopefully the clutch is OK.

A diesel. I've heard the revs go up when clutch is slipping but they definitely go down, it's as if I've put the clutch in briefly.
