[Guide] How to replace the factory sat nav with an aftermarket head unit

FM Antenna This connector behind the dash is used for the FM aerial - just connect the adaptor (it needs a power feed too but you can take that from your head unit's wiring, typically) and away you go And finally, here is the finished article!

[Guide] How to replace the factory sat nav with an aftermarket head unit

USB port in arm rest This is fairly straightforward - the adaptor cable (mentioned int he first post) above connects to the plug on arm rest like this and gives you a standard USB connection you can plug into your head unit. Once this is done the arm rest USB works as normal I gave this area...

[Guide] How to replace the factory sat nav with an aftermarket head unit

Climate control display When you remove the factory head unit you lose the ability to see the climate control information In order to remedy this you can install the display screen from the base model, but it has a different connector. You can use the pre-made adaptor and run it up behind the...

[Guide] How to replace the factory sat nav with an aftermarket head unit

Reverse camera wiring Once you remove the top display screen you will see this connector: This connector contains the wires that connect to the reverse camera. I purhcased the adaptor noted above and the connector was wrong so I had to chop it off and wire it up like this: Once the...

[Guide] How to replace the factory sat nav with an aftermarket head unit

Factory amplifier control The biggest problem with this task that I found is that the volume level was not adjustable. The factory amplifier in the boot is controlled digitally so without the factory head unit you are stuck with it at a low volume level. In the wiring there is a mention of...

[Guide] How to replace the factory sat nav with an aftermarket head unit

I will stop short of producing a step-by-step guide on how to replace the head unit because there are a lot of variables and there will still be some work required to connect everything exactly as required, but I hope this information is useful to anyone attempting the same There are loads of...

    MOT Crap

I know how you feel, I had an advisory this year because my sill is slightly dented (looks like someone jacking it up in the wrong place) because of the proximity to the suspension, whilst it is technically correct it seemed very pedantic Also had wrong mileage recorded once before which...

VSA on manual 7th gen petrol Accord?

I found a brochure online that states: Vehicle Stability ***ist (VSA) - standard on the 2.2 i-CTDi diesel and 2.4 i-VTEC models (optional on the 2.0 i-VTEC models), helps you maintain control during cornering, acceleration and collision-avoidance manoeuvres. When it detects wheel-slip under...

ABS, Brake and Traction lights come on

How did you read the codes? If it was with a generic scanner I believe Honda HDS will give you a bit more info if you can get access to that I'm not sure if it's the same thing but also how old is the battery? Mine put on a load of random warning lights the other day when working on the stereo...

8th Gen used - what to look out for

Yeah generally you would notice some loss in power, temperature guage climbing, and maybe some white smoke. On modern cars usually an EML will come on as well depending on how sensitive the ECU is. It's probably an oil leak, but just be 100% before you buy, in my opinion. Maybe look for...

8th Gen used - what to look out for

Yes, good point, if there's actually steam/water coming out the rocker cover gasket then the head gasket is gone, do the usual checks (e.g. check under oil cap for mayo). I think from your message it sounds like a bad translation rather than that but better to be sure

8th Gen used - what to look out for

Check that the valve clearances have been adjusted. It's only a £75-ish job and is on the service schedule (every 62.5k I believe) but most garages won't know it needs doing. Even my car that had full main dealer histroy had no evidence that it had been performed. The rocker cover needs to come...

    EX Aftermarket Stereo

Had a bit more success today now that the second head unit has arrived... and fits the dash kit... Reverse camera is working: I had to splice the wires from the (now unused) navigation display connector but it all works fine. The adaptor provides 6v to the camera and it works fine, despite...
