    Type V

Type-V's also have more soundproofing and softer bound/rebound rates for the shock absorbers. This equals a softer and quieter ride, but it wont be as sharp to drive. Some models also have rather garish chrome door handles and Type-V specific 16-inch 7-spoke alloy wheels. Performance wise there...

    Alternator removal (again!) - 2001 2.0i

Yeah I would say 10mm is a tiny bit too much. Not much relevance, but my H22 belt barely moves...Never squeals! I would try tightening it a bit and see how you get on. Don't go too tight though!

Need a spare key, does it need coding ?

Yes, either Honda will code it or you can do it yourself. My Father has a scanner which can do this, but they cost thousands. A dealer shouldn't charge too much to do it. :)

    Modifying

No, everyone keeps them standard. ;) *cough cough*

    Newbie needing some advice

It's also worth noting that in fact, you cannot alter the factory ECU that is used in the SOHC EU 6th gens. Your only option would be to fit an afternarket ECU (££££) or to grab a P38 ECU from certain Integras/Civics. It would still be a lot of work for 2bhp at the most. Accept the 1.8i for...

    Alternator removal (again!) - 2001 2.0i

Take off the power steering pump belt, undo the couple of bolts holding the pump in place and simply lift it out the way. That's how I done mine back when it was F-powered! Bungee cord was useful to hold it in place. And just to add, I had it out and the new one fitted in 30 minutes or so. It...

    Reverse bang (automatic)

Indeed! Like I said that's just half the internals! Valve Bodies are worse....Hundreds of pieces smaller than you little fingernail that have to be packaged in a specfic order in something smaller than a shoebox. Not nice! ;) You can see valve bodies on our website. :)

    Reverse bang (automatic)

A fluid change will not solve such an issue. I just wish I would of noticed your dilemma beforehand to save you the cost! Fluid changes solve most issues? Errr....no. Fluid changes wont solve burnt out clutch plates, blocked filter pickups, burnt solenoids or dodgy valve bodies. Autos are...

ATR shock strut Compatibility to 2001 1.8s

They would slot straight in. Would be worth changing the top and bottom shock mount bushes while you are there too. Hope that helps. :)

    Most horrific 6th gen ever?

These pictures are doing the rounds at the moment...I must say, it looks pretty horrible! I'm liking the bodystyle code on the door that 99.9% of the population won't understand. :D

    This VTEC thing

One thing I hate about 6th gens (both F & H-seriesmodels) is the crank pulley location. Not only is it very close to the nearside wheel, there is nothing protecting it from debris or water! Even when avoiding puddles (which I always do ;)), it still causes the auxillary belt to squeal if the...

    This VTEC thing

All good tips! One thing I would just add. The silencer has a fail-safe inside which stops the engine sucking up water. When water is sucked in via the inlet pipe, it fills the silencer chamber with water causing a large rubber flap to lift, blocking the inlet and cutting out the engine, thus...

    This VTEC thing

You could just take the silencer off. It's a free mod, and you wouldn't have to tell your insurer. "Whats a silencer?" ;)

    This VTEC thing

Either that or he could remove the silencer from the OEM airbox. I've done that to all my Accords and it gives them a real throaty roar!

    Non starting 6th Gen

Fairly easy! Undo battery connections and alternator connections, slacken the adjustment to allow the belt to come off, then undo the mounting bolts and wiggle it out. Hardest part is wiggling it out of the top mount (corrosion!) but you can make this easier to refit by sanding off the...

    This VTEC thing

The camshaft in the F18/F20 SOHC VTEC has two lobe profiles instead of the usual one, and with each lobe there is a "rocker" shaft. Below 4500rpm (ish!) the car is on the economy mode, so is only using one rocker while the other one is doing nothing. Above 4500rpm at W.O.T (wide open throttle)...
