    Vibrating in Reverse Gear

I've driven a lot of Toyotas and don't have a bad word to say about them. They don't lie. Easy to drive, no quirks. Neighbour chucked me the keys to his V6 Hilux the other day, and it felt like,, another Toyota, TBH. Like an electric car - stupidly effortless. We have 3 Landcuisers in the...

    Vibrating in Reverse Gear

You could replace the entire fleet with Toyotas but life would be as exciting as an underinflated tyre from there on.

    Timing chain replacement

Thanks for getting back. The reason I am asking is because I suspect the chains are the weakest link in low end replacement kits. So I was thinking of getting one of the cheaper kits for the sprockets and tensioners, and substitute the chains with brandname items, especially the oil pump chain.

Any bike rack recommendations for an Honda Accord Estate? (for 2 bikes)

For roof mounts, just... don't drive into your garage with your bikes on top. If you have a garage door opener in the car, put it out of reach in the back of the car. Too may friends of mine have had very expensive momentary lapses.

    Spare wheel tourer

I didn't trust 15 year old goo that probably has been par boiled by now, so I started carrying a space saver. Will only run it in a rear position though (swap a rear wheel to front if front puncture). I also carry one of those rubber worm type puncture kits, which work well if the tyre has had...

    Anyone have experience with SMF?

What happens when you install a Single Mass Flywheel? Do you get more wear and stress on drivetrain and crankshaft bearings? Do you need to drive at higher RPM to compensate? Has anyone seen a failed DMF? what happens? Do rubber pads (if any) disintegrate or do the springs get weak? And...

    Wind Deflectors

Can anyone who bought the Polish made deflectors tell me if they were mailed from Poland or from the UK? And how big was the box? Trying to work out the best way to get a set over here without copping some enormous oversized mail charge.

Original Diesel filter really worth buying ?

I have another question about fuel. There seem to be 2 schools of thought about water in diesel. One is to have an additive in the fuel that suspends water throughout the fuel so it gets transported out in the combustion process. A simple detergent type additive should do this as it links to...

    Rear wheel bearings

Another rear wheel bearing question. Is anyone driving a high mileage Tourer still on the original bearings? And for people who have replaced them - what were the symptoms? Noise? play?

Original Diesel filter really worth buying ?

My understanding is that Winter Diesel has a lower cloud point. Below cloud point the paraffins in diesel go waxy and gel the fuel. Warming it up (common in many biodiesel setups because biodiesel has a much higher cloud point) is a good way of preventing this, but seeing fuel lines run the...

    Possible to Retrofit TPMS system?

The OEM Honda TPMS I think uses input from the ABS wheel sensors measured against a rotation / time value set via a calibration process. I think this is clever, because it uses only software. (edit for clarification: I think it derives an average value from 4 wheels and uses that value to...

Original Diesel filter really worth buying ?

So in the UK do you get large trucks queuing up at Costco? Costco fuel is popular here, and their prices are good compared to brandname fuel stations. But an independent supplier is on one of the routes I travel and using a peer-informed fuel savings app they turn out the be the cheapest in...

Original Diesel filter really worth buying ?

There are several old threads that cover this topic in a lot of detail. Don't feel shy to ask for clarification in old threads. It is in the conversational nature nature of internet forums that thread topics sometimes spin off other questions. Moderators can split threads into new topics if...

Original Diesel filter really worth buying ?

That is almost exactly what the signs tells me when I pull up at a fuel station  I have been running bog standard diesel for 3 or so years without any issues either. The largest users of automotive diesel don't seem to be queuing up at the Premium pump though, so that would indicate that...

Original Diesel filter really worth buying ?

We live in a world where it's impossible to tell where engineering stops and marketing spin takes over. Premium diesel costs about 12 to 15% over standard here. I don't know what the differences are like in the UK or EU. So I wonder about this a bit, and most of the info online seems to be...

Original Diesel filter really worth buying ?

I still need someone to convince me that so called premium diesel isn't just ordinary truck diesel with a tiny bit of whatever cleaning additive that you do not really need, thrown in.
