    Glow plugs?

I didn't know you could buy them! Don't only Honda garages have them? I know there's a 'hack' using a short across the plug somewhere but I never like doing that. //edit: Is this the kind of thing: link

    Glow plugs?

Well I've heard of this off/on 3 times thing but the manual isn't very clear on how to do it. Is it supposed to be: Key out, key in, start engine, wait 30 seconds, key out then in again, start engine, wait 30 seconds etc.? Or is the 30 seconds supposed to be with the engine off?

OK the actual description was "fuel heater temperature switch faulty"

    Glow plugs?

I don't know the actual code he'd just written it down on paper and I think it was "fuel heater temperature sensor" but not 100%. I just guessed it meant plugs as they pre-heat to help it start, I know the code descriptions often aren't very clear! It's booked in for Friday at Honda I was just...

    Glow plugs?

Somebody else has mentioned it might be a fuse blown now, where's the glow plug fuse? Is there anything they might have knocked or shorted when messing about on the car with the front end off?

    Glow plugs?

So since the garage gave me an engine light and flashing glow plug light on the dash, I've booked into Honda next week for diagnosis. Is there anything I should check before doing that? They told me the code came back as 'fuel heater temperature sensor' or something similar? I don't want to pay...

How do you use TypeAccord & why did you first join?

Cars tend to become popular when they're about 5 years old, so I guess this will become more of an 8th gen forum soon.

How do you use TypeAccord & why did you first join?

I generally click in every day but depends on other life stuff going on, sometimes I'll just have a quick look from the phone when I'm on the loo (we all do that, right?). If work's slow I might be on here a few times a day. My spanner rating is low but I'll help out in threads that I know...

2.2 CTDI Laboured/Juddering on start up - What's going wrong?

I'd definitely get the fuel filter replaced with a Honda one anyway. When was the battery last replaced?

2.2 CTDI Laboured/Juddering on start up - What's going wrong?

I have no idea but my wild guess would be a fuelling problem. I would be inclined to change the fuel filter to start with. Has it had a tankful or more of fresh diesel since the incident?

Allow diesel engine to idle before switching off?

But the oil pump will get (cold) oil around the turbo within 10ths of a second, it's gunning the turbo on cold oil that's the problem rather than a lack of any oil. So when you're sat there with the engine running but not going anywhere the turbo has cold oil going around it and the engine...

Allow diesel engine to idle before switching off?

Is it also cos again the coolant will get hot but the oil won't even start warming up until you start driving it - so you wait 10 mins, your coolant gauge says good to go but then it's another 10-15 mins after pulling away before you can drive properly!

    Clay bar in the rain

Nowhere near as many contaminants as your bucket water though, even using 2-bucket, and most people will wash again after claying before polish and wax.

    Clay bar in the rain

Water isn't greasy enough, if you use a clay bar with just water you'll notice there's MUCH more chance of the bar sticking and when it sticks you get marring on the clearcoat which then needs to be polished out. Some people have been known to use fairy liquid in water to remove the friction...

Allow diesel engine to idle before switching off?

True I tend to watch the live fuel consumption gauge as a good estimate of engine load.
