    My Service History

Undertook my third oil service today at 109709 miles. Familiarity makes the task much easier now; as before, I took the car for a 1/2 mile drive (a touch further than before because it was extra cold this morning) and left the car draining for about three hours while I was out with the family...

    High mileage club?

The chain was noisyish when I got it. Although I'd done my homework on this forum before buying, I hadn't really read about chain issues. The car has a full service history but there was a slightly long gap between two of the services with the previous owner; it could be this, or dealers using...

    High mileage club?

Hi Tanna, I'm in almost exactly the same situation as you; I bought a 94k 06 Accord diesel to replace a trusty 02 VW Bora TDI with 137k on the clock. I'm also going to cover 20k in 12 months. I've nearing 107k now and although the chain is a little noisy if I'm honest, the car has been great...

    HFT start-up beep

Have played with this a bit more and the beep happens every time, even when the phone is not near the car i.e. not paired. It also does it when the key isn't in the ignition but when the door is unlocked! I've sent an email to HondaHandsfree.com to see if they can help - just can't find...

Mods, can you delete the duplicate threads? Keeps happening to me!

    HFT start-up beep

Had a quick search but couldn't find anything to solve an odd problem. My 06 EX is paired with my work BlackBerry and it works well. However, in the last month or so, after switching the ignition on I get a single beep from the HFT about 20 seconds after turning the key. Nothing appears on the...

    Low pitch humming noise

Hi Dan, they are Michelin EnergySavers (on 16" OE rims). The tread is excellent - at least 5mm - and the tyre in good condition although now it's at the front, the same wheel is making a different kind of higher pitched humming sound. You can hear it more clearly on the quieter tarmac at...

    Low pitch humming noise

Just to pick up this thread, I had the same issue - humming noise from the back of the car at speed - but this disappeared after I rotated my tyres at the weekend. So along with everyone else's experience here, definitely check the tyres first before ***uming it's the wheel bearing.

    716 miles from a tank!

By coincidence, EVO magazine was waiting for me when I got home and one of the contributors Chris Harris was talking about the fuel economy challenges of driving a Merc SLS, of all things. He mentioned limiting top speed too and not using cruise control, so could try that next. I reckon with my...

    716 miles from a tank!

Filled up this morning after running the tank to its last couple of litres and hit exactly 716 miles as I pulled up. Surely a world record?! My daily commute is well-suited to return good fuel economy - it's 40 miles each way from Herts around the M25 and M40 to Bucks, through...

    My Service History

Successfully completed another oil service over the weekend at 99949 miles. No pictures this time because it was just the EXOL 0w30 oil and filter only, with the filter sourced from eBay via Two Mills Honda at just £9.95 delivered. The great thing about ordering parts from genuine Honda dealers...

    Another XCarlink Install

Hi Matt, just seen this post. Interesting about the 16 folder limit - I'll make a further adjustment from 12 folders to 16 in my Windows app. Regarding the delay on start-up, I wonder if this is dependent on the size of the USB media. In my wife's Audi A3, whose sat nav head unit takes SD cards...

    Another XCarlink Install

Excellent write-up and nice install! If you install the Xcarlnk MP3 Manager, let me know what you think. I'm working on the next update which includes support for up to 12 CD folders.

    Noisy or Rattling timing chain

Geez. What about replacing with an engine from a crashed car? Anyone know what they fetch?

    Another XCarlink Install

Three days in and all is well - the device works nicely. I like the way that like the best MP3 adapters, and indeed the CD player, it remembers where you were in a track when you go back to the car. As for quality, there's no problem if you rip at a high rate. The low-rate MP3s I tried sounded...

    Another XCarlink Install

Completed installation of my XCarlink device today. After kindly receiving a discount code here at TA, which effectively made the postage free, the unit arrived promptly and I planned to install over the weekend to take my time. In the end, I had it done in just a couple of hours, using this...

Faulty timing chain - advice needed!

Good point. What's really annoying I think is that even some Honda dealers don't understand which oil to use (I.e. using 5w30 or 5w40 when Honda's own guidelines suggest 0w30). So even if you were a fastidious owner getting your car serviced every 10k, if the wrong oil is going in then you're...

Faulty timing chain - advice needed!

Interesting thread. My facelift 56-plate has covered 98k and has a slightly noisy chain, with the service history more or less okay bar a couple of thousand miles here and there. No idea what oil was used but since I got it, I've run it on Lubetech's 0w30 as directed here. When looking for my...

    AirCon Smells

Good man! :D The Prius was actually one of the best cars I owned (bar its AC, of course!). I only sold it because I was about to lose a shed-load of cash in depreciation when the new model arrived. Jeremy Clarkson's review is legendary but the Prius topped the JD Power survey three years in a...
