Performance difference between 5 speed and 6 speed diesels

My 6 speed is a lot better on fuel consumption but I am doing a lot more longer journeys now than when I had the 5 speed so perhaps not a totally fair comparison. We took the 5 speed on holiday to the south of France fully loaded and it was fine doing that.

Performance difference between 5 speed and 6 speed diesels

I've owned both and while I didn't particularly try racing either of them to compare times, the 5 speed has really long gearing to make up for the fact that it is only a 5 speed box, the 6 speed has much nicer spacing between the gears.

Problem with car not boosting post fuel filter change

From my own tests with an egr blanking plate it will only throw a code if you leave it idling. If you just drive it, it will be fine.

Can the 7th gen diesel be reliable?

I wish I could keep a car that long but I get bored too easily and usually change it after 12-18 months

Problem with car not boosting post fuel filter change

If you have changed vacuum hoses have you put them back in the correct position? There are a couple of sensors on the top of the engine which could be easily damaged by leaning on them, one near the front and one further back near the fuel filter

Can the 7th gen diesel be reliable?

This is a subject that comes up a few times from prospective owners and the petrol diesel debate so I thought I would post my real life experiences to help anyone considering the diesel 7th gen. As a bit of a background I have previously owned a pre facelift 7th gen diesel tourer which I bought...

    Custom tailgate guard

There is a cargo net that should pull out from the back of the rear seats and attaches to the headlining that would keep your dog safe in the boot area as long as he doesn't eat it.

    cold feet heater problem

My aircon needs a new condenser which is in the boot and I can clear my screen without any problems so you must have another issue. Are your carpets dry? When was the pollen filter last changed?

    Satnav Issue

Yes it will definitely need to be able to read the disk for this to work.

    Glow plug issue?

Ask them if they are going to fit a genuine fuel filter, if not I would offer to pay the difference

    Glow plug issue?

Yes I had a pre facelift with the correct bosch filter fitted the wrong way round and didn't know until I went to change it. The car drove fine.

    Satnav Issue

I have definitely done it using the instructions I posted above. When I bought the car it had a later copied disk in which worked fine for a while until the normal read errors started which is common with copied disks. So I put the old disk back in and got the same warnings as you have said...

Please help, I'm quessing it's my battery playing!

If they are a Clifford dealer and the original fitter I would expect them to test what they thought was a faulty siren on a system in their shop before charging you for fitting a new one. Some Clifford alarms have a lifetime warranty so that would be worth checking too.

Please help, I'm quessing it's my battery playing!

This will be a bit difficult for us to diagnose as most just have the factory fit alarm. The problem with aftermarket alarms is they cut in to the original wiring loom and a lot of how good or bad they are depends on the installer. If the car is still starting ok I would look more at the wiring...

Electric window switch - is it faulty?

Sounds like it is meeting some kind of resistance and is therefore opening the window to prevent trapping a child's head/arm etc. Possibly just needs a bit of lubrication.
