hi all
the heater fan on my 55 tourer seems a bit slow. i have a right job on trying to keep windscreen from misting up so much so that on a 120 mile 3.5 hour trip on Thursday night i could not even keep my feet warm as i had to keep it on the screen almost the whole time. the fan speeds up when switch is pressed but seems very quite when on full . putting on feet only, on full fan speed only gives you a little breeze in foot well so much so I can't tell where its coming from . also switching from say screen/feet to just feet on full fan speed seems to bring to fan speed down as the noise lever comes down to where you can just hear it .. only had the car a few months and had a mazda 6 before that and had no problem with misting up windows and cold feet
can any one help ....please!!

Hit a/c button, and pick 5, direct it where you want it, or go auto with the a/c, and up the temp to 25. 120miles in 3.5 hours = 34 mph, no wonder you was cold!! LOL

A/C surely not needed!! never needed to use it in last car in the winter or any other car i have had in last 30 years . no the fan is the problem far to weak only clears half the screen and blows almost nothing on you feet no matter what setting the heater is on .putting A/C on is not going to warm my poor feet up lol
120 miles in 3.5 hours was not bad -1oC on leaving my house -5oC when i got to scotland last 40 miles of roads were snow covered
cheers

A/C will take the moisture out the air being pumped into the cabin, which will help prevent misting. It's also good practice to use the A/C in winter as it helps keep the system in working order :)

*Edit:

That's not to say that there might not be a problem with your fan. If you get full power on some vent settings but not on others though, I would hazard a guess that the ECU for the heater/cooling system uses different fan speeds for different vent selections.

yeah my A/C does get switched on probably once a week or so but just to give it a run out not to clear the windows .. sorry forgot to mention that i drive 2 other cars at lease twice a week my sons corsa and dads toyota avensis with NO problems with misting windows and no A/C
i know this problem will probably never get sorted but thought i would give it a go on here
next step is to try and catch the lad at the top of my estate with a 54 tourer and check out his heater fan speeds ..if he lets me lol

My aircon needs a new condenser which is in the boot and I can clear my screen without any problems so you must have another issue. Are your carpets dry? When was the pollen filter last changed?

A couple of things to clarify

1. the "A/C" will definitely help to take moisture out of the air on the Accord, which is why it is called "climate control". If you have a de-humidifier in a room in winter, for the same reason it will help to make the room feel a bit warmer (a de-humidifier takes moisture out of the air, the "A/C" in the car does the same even when the settings are on "heat" in the car)

2. but as far as getting hot air blowing out, it makes no difference whether you have the "A/C" on or not. As suggested in #2, try in manual mode, set the blower to its max setting, the heat to max setting, and also switch "A/C" off for this experiment. You car is a diesel, and diesels definitely take a lot longer to warm up, so try to find a dual carriageway or motorway and drive at 70mph if possible for a while, to see if hot air is blowing out. If hot air blows out in the "horizontal" setting but not on the "feet" setting, then the motorised direction flaps are not working properly.

If you do not feel hot air blowing out at all, then you could have one of several problems

A. blower not working properly
B. blocked pollen filter (I'm not so sure how much this would affect it myself)
C. blocked heater matrix
D. valve on the hot water inlet to the matrix not opening fully
E. motorised flaps not working to allow the air flow from the heater matrix
F. faulty temperature sensor

The good news is that you can fault-find the heater using the method here ....

also this might be pertinent for the diesel car (low heat output in cold weather until engine gets warm)

thanks for reply s guys
ok just to clarify
heat is fine no problem there tested by setting heat on Hi, fan on full speed, set on face lever closed side vents so only middle two were on put hand over vent ,, had to take hand away after 15 secs ie burning hand lol plus also noted was air speed out of those two vents whlie testing were about 50% less than same test on my mazda 6.... IE strong breeze from honda force 10 gale from mazda 6

test no2 fan on full heat Hi.. set on screen/feet at idle speed noise from fan is very noticeable above engine... then switch to feet. now fan noise is barely noticeable as if fan speed has dropped down to half or less ( would love for one of u guys to do same test and see if u fan goes quiet as well) then putting hand in footwell i can feel the heat but not much air movement! it blasts down same test in mazda

now pollen filter i never thought of that!! going to look at the service book later to see when last done
thanks guys

ps never had nor driven a car with fan and heat set on FULL 75% of the time LOL

Hey pal. From what you have said it does sound like the pollen filter. Easiet test would be to remove the filer and then run th heaters for a test and see if air flow is back. You could find a leaf or something even blocking the filter. That's the old point of that filter but they do get blocked and need changing to maintain air flow

sorted, pollen filter it was... took it out today and looks like its the one they put in at the factory! it looks tens years old if its a day lol now i can feel the hot air on my feet .... champion
thanks for all help guys
