    Highest Mileage

Hi, no not really, very occasionally ill put in Wynn's extreme cleaner and before the mot I've used cataclean a few times ( also had it fail with cataclean) More importantly I change my oil twice a year and fuel filter once a year. It's important to use the OEM fuel filter and I use 0-30 fully...

    Highest Mileage

I decided to learn how to fix this car myself after being absolutely ripped off by a "mechanic" and a caliper that he couldnt sort out. I've managed to fix everything from ball joints to stuck leaky injectors thanks to the forum and YouTube.

My 2004 i-ctdi is currently on 231,000, ive had to replace many little bits over the years but nothing really major yet. Want to do an egr clean next. Ive had it fail on emissions most years when I first got the car but have learnt how to clean it out now before the mot.

    Was this a good buy?

Sorry to hear this, definitely have a look at fuel filter. Scan the forum I'm sure the problem will be covered or at least help. I don't have a code reader but it's something I must get.

I also have bit of rust on arches, as my car's not worth anything I just remove rust best I can, kurust, fill them, quick sand prime and tin of Halfords paint and they look pretty decent. I guess depends on how picky you are.

    Was this a good buy?

Lovely looking motor, I've an old 2004 pre facelift on 230,000 and she still purrs. Wonderful engines. I only use 0,30 fully synth twice year, fuel filter learn to do yourself as it's quite easy but there's a tricky bolt round back, you just need a Flexi long screwdriver and bit of patience...

    Power tailgate problem

Hi, I have a 2004 ctdi and have just fixed my boot for about the 4th time over 3 years. This may help. The problem for me has always been the wiring loom which is located top left looking into the boot. You need to pull off a couple of bits of trim which is straight forward and the loom is...

    Injector problems.

Thanks buddy, will wait on new washer as annealing didn't work fully, I'd try the helicoil in a fix, cars old now but want to keep it in the road as it's a good runner

    Tourer rear Brake change

I've just changed my rear discs at the weekend, nightmare if you don't release the shoes via the cog, also if using the screws to push the disc off will need longer ones than the two holding the hose on that people use. Best bet is to just rotate the cog and release the shoes, doesn't take much...

    Tramlining

I use the turkey blaster method but once is not enough, I do it every day after a good driving, probably end up doing it 5 times, fluid is very clean and it makes a big difference to the steering.

Hi there, my accord failed a few years back on emissions, here's what I did and do every time before mot, put in premium fuel upto a week before mot, ( not sure if this helps but just something I do) put can of cataclean before mot, give car a good blasting down the motorway, get it nice and hot...

7th CTDI. Heater cold on drivers side

My 2004 is the same, heats only passenger side, drivers side gets slightly warm but not as hot as passengers side. I've learnt to live with it and wear extra clothing in winter.

    Belt tensioner issue 2.2 cdti

Use a Long swan neck 14mm? Doesn't have to be swan neck but as long as possible. If it's rounded off I reckon can still push it with a bit of thought and a long bar possibly.

    Knocking noise front end.

Replaced tie rods and front anti roll bar links, seems to have cured the problem. If anyone is thinking of doing the tie rods I bought a £10 removal tool off Amazon that works great instead of paying out for a proper tool, will need a breaker bar and extensions. One other thing is I bought the...

    Knocking noise front end.

Replaced nearside upper control arm, noise still happening. Had another good look and I have a feeling it's the tie rods as they seem to have play. I don't want to keep replacing parts so need to really find the cause of this. I will investigate further, I'll update the thread as this may help...
