    Knocking noise front end.

Managed to have a good look after work today, the only thing I noticed was my nearside upper control arm ball joint looks shot, it has movement and looks dead, will replace it and see if that is the culprit. I was thinking the struts but will replace the arms first.

    Knocking noise front end.

Hi everyone, the other day while driving I start to hear a clunking/knocking noise from the front end of my 2004 ictdi, possibly passenger side. The engine, braking and steering all seem fine, this may be made worse by going over bumps. I haven't had a good chance to look yet but will later...

    Front Suspension bush - Inside

Wow, any idea how a split pin can come out if it's inserted and bent unless it had rotted away maybe, then the bolt works loose? Still glad no major accident. I will take a look at mine as I did some work last year. Glad you are back on the road now, that is quite eye opening!

    Clutch Hydraulics

Hi, first I would try spraying lube behind the clutch pedal where the rod goes through there is a tiny hole, I used a white lithium grease, get a can that has the straw and put it in as far as you can, try to get as much in as you can, the hole can swivel, it is awkward to do, get a head torch...

Brakes overheating. Garage can't fix it - can you help?

Hi, my bad memory as this was a few years back now but it caused me weeks of frustration, the first mechanic changed the caliper but caliper kept binding, he didn't have a clue and was suggesting all kinds of problems under the bonnet, I already paid out a lot of money to fit just a caliper. I...

Brakes overheating. Garage can't fix it - can you help?

Hi, I'll share this quickly, I had a rear caliper seize on mine, it went to a mechanic who tried everything and replaced the caliper etc etc, couldn't work out why it was still sticking on. My only last hope was to buy a better quality caliper and do it myself, I replaced the caliper, two hoses...

    Lower control arms.

I bought two lower control arms with the new bushes already in. I used the old pins, I would recommend some lock thread and correct torques. It's easy job really, they may need a wiggle out or a lump hammer may help. Been using the car daily and no problems. The suspension wishbone I remember...

    Lower control arms.

Thanks Kaput, good to hear your experience with these and some valuable info there I'll probably need in the future. I'll keep an eye on the arms and will have a good look again in a few weeks. I think I will leave the upper ones for now and maybe just replace the ball joint rubber covers and...

    Lower control arms.

Hi JVM, My lower control arms cost me £85 for both, I must say they looked really good solid quality, the rubbers looked very good, I was very happy with them actually. Fitted perfect and car drives great. Having done a further little research, in an ideal world maybe torque them underload...

    Lower control arms.

Hi everyone, just looking for a little advice as I'm a noob but I like to try as much diy as I can. Managed to change both lower control arms the other day, following an online video, question is all bolts etc were tightened with the vehicle off the ground then lowered, is this ok or did it...

    Rust

I had some rust on the rear wheel arch last year, before the mot I sanded it down a bit, filled it with metal putty, sanded it down, bit of primer and a little bit of paint on top, took about hour and a year later still looks ok lol that metal putty is good stuff!

2003 Tourer tailgate won't open/. warning light on

Haven't managed to check mine yet but all these tips are great! these tail gates are a real pain! I shall definitely be stripping the trim and checking/cleaning all wires/fixings/mechanisms etc first. I did manage to get it to close when it was open by the button on the boot, not sure what...

2003 Tourer tailgate won't open/. warning light on

My tail gate has just stopped working on my 04 cdti right before the MOT, didn't make a difference to the outcome of the MOT, I wasn't sure if it would. Anyway, ill have to strip down the trim and have a look at all the wiring. The tail gate on these are a real pain, I wish it was just manual...

Power Steering oil and Anti Freeze

Hi, I just use genuine Honda fluids and order through Cox spares. For coolant Manual says all season type 2, it's premixed 50% antifreeze 50% water. System has many aluminum parts that can corrode if improper coolant is used. You definitely want genuine Honda PS fluid, manual says Honda ps...

    04 accord non starter

Sorry to hear your problems, any update on this? I managed to loosen an injector by driving it with the clamp undone somewhat, drove it to work and back no problem and it came out fairly easily. I must add that these engines are a peach if looked after.

Buying ICDTI 2004 Tourer Need advice

Hi, I also have a 2004 diesel tourer, it has been a pleasure to own and I enjoy driving it everyday. As mentioned the engines are great. At this age things start to get rusty and worn and need replacing. Luckily thanks to the forum I have replaced everything myself and I'm not mechanical...

    Alternator Clicking Noise - Again!

Hi, it's definitely the correct belt, was fitted by Honda along with a new engine, I will double check. I just found the tensioner pulley extremely hard to budge and the actual tension on the belt a lot. Obviously designed this way and it now runs great. It just made me wonder what the...

    Alternator Clicking Noise - Again!

Hi, I have just fitted a refurb alternator after an original honda one developed an awful clicking grinding noise. I will see how long this refurb lasts, one thing I noticed is there is a hell of a tension on the alternator pulley even with the shorter belt. Will see how it goes, refurb cost 85...

    Good Alternator Recon/Refurb Sellers

Hi, bit late, I purchased a recon from that first link from eBay, £85 all in and returned my old unit which was all paid for by the seller. I could have got a Denso one for around £200. Fitted it the other week and all seems great, they come with 12 months guarantee as long as your old one goes...
