Suspected Limp Mode - even has the Great Fahad stumped!

Seem to have got to the bottom of this now - the vacuum hose had detatched itself from the solenoid valve that operates the EGR. This must have caused a drop in vacuum pressure that the ecu didn't always detect because the EGR had been programmed out. Finders crossed this is all fixed now...

    Coolant Temperature Sensor

Did a further test yesterday - temp increases linearly and then flattens at 77 degrees (then I ***ume the thermostat opens around this point) Don't think the sensor is the problem

    Coolant Temperature Sensor

These readings were taken when driving, hence the gaps in the data as I couldn't write them down!. Im about to finish work soon so I plan to do it again but with the car stationary to see where the readings go. I know it will get into the 70s since thats what Fadad had to get it to in order to...

    Coolant Temperature Sensor

Thanks for that Brian - that was really helpful! I tried it on my way to work this morning. Route was through town but there was little traffic. and managed to get to the following data: Time (mins) Temp 0 12 - temp gauge not moved 1...

    Coolant Temperature Sensor

Its actually a weird one John, It reads normal but sometimes it seems to stick. Reads zero whilst car is warming up but then rises quickly. I made another post about car going into limp mode without throwing up a warning light/code. Its been happening only since I had it remapped. Fahad has...

    Coolant Temperature Sensor

I need to replace the coolant temp sensor on a 2006 diesel tourer. I have searched the web and can't find where it is located in the engine bay - does anybody know where it is located?

Suspected Limp Mode - even has the Great Fahad stumped!

Interestingly, I did quite a few short journeys yesterday and it stayed out of limp mode.

Suspected Limp Mode - even has the Great Fahad stumped!

Mr Honda, yes it has only happened since the remap. Im not sure about the fuel filter - I've only had the car for 5 months so not yet serviced it, but it has a full main dealer service history so I ***ume so. Could it be a fault with the fuel filter? Chris

Suspected Limp Mode - even has the Great Fahad stumped!

Thats what I hate about intermitant faults - I need it to happen when I see you and knowing my luck it will behave itself that day! Its been pretty predictable over the last week though - should do it after a journey and I have left it a few minutes. Only difference this time is that it will rev...

Suspected Limp Mode - even has the Great Fahad stumped!

This is a puzzling one - I've been receiving help from Fahad, who has re-flashed the stg 2 remap onto my car and done a full diagnostics but problem still happens. The car will occasionally refuse to rev above 2100 rpm and cruise control not engage. This normally happens shortly after startup...

Stupid question but has my car got the wrong tyres?

The do look a little thick in the sidewalls. I suspect that the previous owner lived out in the sticks so would have benefitted. They are down to about 3mm so will be changing soon. 205/55 is much cheaper

    WHEEL WOBBLE

I've had a similar experience - started as a wobble at high speed, got the wheels balanced and it was fine, then it started again. Last week I had to do an emergency stop and the wobble started at low speeds. Swapped the tyres front to back and it is fine again. The tyres that were fitted by the...

Stupid question but has my car got the wrong tyres?

Its a 2006 diesel Exec with std 16 inch alloys. Is the correct tyre size 205/55 or 215/60? all tyre websites say 205/55, as does the sticker behind the door, but mine has 215/60 fitted all round (by the prev owner). They are budget winter tyres and I hate them - but need to make sure I'll be...

Clutch Suggestions For 2.2 CDTI Stage2

I have just got it back and it feels a completely different car. They showed me to old clutch and it was pretty bad and worn unevenly:- friction plate close to the rivets with extra wear around the edges, the spring lobes were heavily distorted and you could see where the release bearing had...

Installing aux input socket for sound system.

Im a big fan of the Xcarlink that I use with my Ipod. Installed in same way described above (~10 mins). It basically emulates a CD changer. With the Xcarlink it connects via USB or 3.5mm. When the Ipod is plugged into the USB I can control it using the stereo controls: changing tracks, going...

Clutch Suggestions For 2.2 CDTI Stage2

Thanks for the advice guys - its in as we speak (Fahad - would love to have taken it to Halifax but my work commitments have prevented that). Getting the LUK kit fitted as per your advice and also a new DMF since the car has done 102K miles now and I don't really want to take the gearbox off...
