    "v" type

From what I've noticed, the earlier 'Type-V' models (pre facelift - think W and X reg) were 2.0's and the later ones - Y reg - 52 reg were 2.3's.

    Ride Quality

Thanks to everyone for the replies :) 270k miles is amazing! My previous car (99 1.8s Accord) reached 202k before I traded it for the current one (now 138k). It was still running well, but needed too many niggly things doing for the M.O.T. Just goes to show what Honda's can achieve!

    Ride Quality

Thanks for the answers guys! I'm always amazed by the friendliness and wealth of knowledge on this forum. :) Maybe I'm just being over critical of the car, which like my previous 6th gen has served me pretty well. Out of curiosity, do you guys all run your tyre pressures 32psi front and 30...

    Ride Quality

Hi there, the wheels are the Standard SE Exec alloys with 195/60/15 tyres. A budget brand but plenty of tread left. I wonder if the cheap tyres are adding to the hard ride?

    Ride Quality

Hi guys, I've been pondering of late what people think of the ride quality of the 6th gen? I'm noticing mine is pretty shocking over bumps (01 SE Exec 138k miles). Both rear drop links have been replaced and no suspension advisories noted on last MOT also no bangs etc so I don't think any parts...

Is the leather real on the SE Exec?

I use either Simoniz or ArmorAll leather wipes on mine (from Halfords). Gives it a nice temporary sheen and freshens it up :) Been told that's the safest way as with you don't want to scrub off the top coating, which I suppose acts as a protective barrier and would prevent any cream being...

Is the leather real on the SE Exec?

I'd always ***umed the leather on the SE Exec had some sort of plastic coating on it, therefore I've only ever cleaned it with leather wipes as I was told the plastic coating made the leather impenetrable therefore using a dedicated leather 'feed' cream was a waste of time. The coating on the...

    Choosing the right car

Apologies, been outdoors all day washing beloved Accord and think the cold had frozen my brain! Should have read £270 a year to tax. Just done mine for 6 months £148.50, still a bit on the dear side! Not sure what the 1.8's are like these days.

    Choosing the right car

I wouldn't worry too much about mileage, my last Accord got to 202k and the engine was fine, just decided to scrap it as it needed a few fiddly jobs for the MOT and I fancied a change. Current Accord SE Exec is on 130k and drives superb. Due to the age, the last '02' and '52' plate ones will...

    Hatchback VS Saloon

Hatchback, for the bonus of having a rear wiper!

    Autoglym

As a valeter and autoglym fan, I find the ultra deep shine a bit of a pain to buff off. It has no cut to it, but contains alot of fillers to hide swirl marks etc., therefore its mainly suited to new/nearly new paintwork. I find the best combo is the super resin polish topped off with the...

    Heater seat switch

Just to confirm, mine are illuminated yellow whenever the headlights are switched on, regardless of ignition being on. When pressed, the little clear line at the side of the button illuminates green. Hope this helps you. Steve

    Car still hesitates

Have had a similar problem on my old accord which eventually threw up an engine management code which turned out to be a failing lambda (oxygen) sensor. I just lived with it for 9 months til I scrapped the car.

Rust! & lots of it. Where next?

Had the same problems with my old 'v' reg when I bought it, the rear arches and above the windscreen were pretty bad. The previous owner of 6 years lived right on the sea front and I think the lack of adequate rust-proofing on Japanese cars coupled with the salty sea air didn't do it any favours!

    Model confusion!

Many thanks guys! The Parkers website is a nightmare to navigate on my phone too, so thanks for taking the time to look for me. The link about the guy with the special accord was a good read too! :)

    Model confusion!

I've recently upgraded from a 1.8S to a 2.0 SE Exec, it's a lovely car which will hopefully need nothing more than a new exhaust in the coming months. Anyway, when I was searching for a replacement, I noticed a few SE Executive Sport models for sale. They look visually the same, and don't seem...

    Cleaning fuel system

I don't have any experience of ultrasonic cleaning, butI think Redex is a bit old school nowadays and mightn't be much use on a modern car, especially the one in the red bottle which is meant for carburettors. One product i've heard people raving about is Millers Ecomax, which is available from...

    obd 2?

My 99'V 1.8 just has the two pin plug under the glovebox, which suggests OBD1. I think it's pot luck really, maybe to do with year or engine size as to which ones have the proper 16pin OBD2 connector.

    window scraping

Maybe winding the window down fully and spraying some silicone spray onto the rubbers might help it glide a bit better, especially if the rubber is a bit hard/perished.

    what engine oil

I use 10w40 semi synthetic in mine. It burns a drop here and there, but it's done nearly 200k. I think any of the grades the guys above have mentioned will be fine, as they're listed in the owners handbook. I just use the thicker oil myself because of the high miles and engine wear on mine.
