    My New Lexus GS250

Overall the E60 was pretty good. Very comfy, classy and only once failed to get me from A to B. However the last year especially was riddled with expensive gremlins so it was time to move on. Decided to go back to Japanese and the only real Japanese car on the market that ticks the boxes...

    Awful German car...

Time for divorce. Warped rocker cover and gasket = £650 New set of Ignition Coils plus plugs plus diagnosis = £500 Still not running smoothly. NOX sensor the next thing to do = £300 Its been an expensive month. Hopefully picking up a low miler 2012 GS250 soon

    Awful German car...

Trouble is I'm 6'4, longer bodied and struggle with headroom in a lot of cars. This when in the correct driving position. One thing about the big German cars is that ergonomically they do win hands down. Sadly we've lost a number of bigger Japanese cars down the years. I did look long and hard...

    Awful German car...

Three more things to add to the list for those every so wonderfully engineered Bavarian battleships. Rocker cover gasket seal needs replacing. Plus two other gaskets. Total cost likely to be near £1000. Never had anything like that fail on any of my Japanese cars. Overall though my petrol...

2010 EX GT with 2.4 Petrol?

Was having a browse through autotrader and the car mentioned above suddenly caught my attention. Wish I'd screengrabbed it or saved the link. Funnily enough the ad is no longer there. Was this model ever available with this engine? Or has the seller simply made a mistake? Either its sold...

    Joined the dark side..

Part replaced was listed as a 'flip motor'. Yep.....not a clue. It's a fairly meaty soundtrack, even from the relatively humble 'standard tune' 2.5. Miss the unique nature of my old Accord Coupe though.

    Joined the dark side..

I was very wary of buying German but have (touch wood) had no real issues with my 09 plate E60 523i. Over 30 months of ownership and just standard servicing plus a noisy 'swirl flap' like issue which cost £250 to replace. The indy garage that I take it to was honest enough to state that the...

    Awful German car...

Present rattling 'noise' diangosed as a knackered swirl flap. £235 to replace. Not the same issue as the swirl flap eating diesels but sadly the kind of thing that German cars are becoming known for. Shoddy components that should be lasting longer. Still, I'd have spent more than double that in...

    Awful German car...

Speaking of awful German cars my 2.5 petrol E60 has decided to throw up FOUR problems in the last few months. Firstly an electric window motor decided to pack up. £350 to replace covered by warranty :) Then the boot wiring loom decided to pack up. £500 to replace covered under warranty :)...

    Is my car too expensive?

Interesting to see all 6 Accord's that I test drove are still for sale. Some were tested over 2 months ago. A couple had some blemishes that might put a few people off but in general they were all solid and had FSH. The one I went up to Scunthorpe to test drive and had road noise issues has...

    2.4 buying tip.

Congratulations. A bit more decisive than my car hunt! Nothing wrong with scrutinising things deeply at all though. Most of us work hard for our money and can't just come up with the sort of sums that a decent car command's with the click of a finger. How does it drive?

Road/auto transmission noise in 8th Gen

I know road noise is a bit higher than average for the type of car, but can the transmission particularly noisy too? Had a look at at a lovely looking dark grey EX GT today. Ticked all the boxes on cosmetics. Very well presented car. Hell I liked this car. Price not bad for a main dealer. But...

    car specs

Theres a few manuals about in ex gt guise. Not for me so rest ***ured we won't be grappling over the same car :) this time if year a good time to buy. Go and test drive a few different trim levels and see what you like. Do the research, be patient, find a car you like. Don't be disheartened if...

    car specs

Some advice I've been given: Buy an EX and stick a 'sports pack' bodykit on for about £1000 Buy an EX GT and stick a 2nd hand set of leathers in for £400 or so. Gets you the best of both worlds then.

    car specs

Having been searching for one of these myself I may be able to answer some of your questions. ES = basic model, fabric seats ES GT = half leather seats, subtle but nice looking bodykit. EX GT = half leather seats, subtle but nice looking bodykit, a few extras like heated and electric seats...

Has anyone owned/seen an 08/09 EX 2.4 WITHOUT a sunroof?

Sadly the area around the sunroof is directly above the right half of my head. You definitely lose a good 2" of headroom.

Has anyone owned/seen an 08/09 EX 2.4 WITHOUT a sunroof?

Simple question really regarding the 8th Gen. There's a fair few 08/09 2.0 EX models minus sunroof. Not seen a 2.2 without one yet. And another 2.4 has just come up on the trader but the third in a week to have a sunroof. In an ideal world would go for a 2.4 Be interested to know whether the...

petrol VTEC or diesel accord opinions/help

I've driven the 2 Litre and the 2.2 Diesel. Both aren't bad at all. Must admit the performance from the diesel is pretty decent. The torque, if not the noise reminds me of my V6.

How do 8th Gens handle mileage?

Have to say I'm not anti diesel. I actually quite like the driving characteristics of a reasonably powerful diesel engine. The appeal of the idtec is that it can very safely be mapped to 175hp+ Gonna give that blue ex gt a test drive tomorrow. Btw any views on the price of that silver grey ex...
