    Hi Bagpuss Yes you are right. I never had one as modern as a Knight or Tourist 353 Mine were the rounded body shape 311 and a 312. I fitted a 23/36 DCD Weber to the 312 with a pancake filter the roar when the second choke open was music to my ears. Jim

    Hi Steven I know just what you mean, but I think Brian has the right idea with the Torque Converter lock up. That is locked in auto and unlocked in sportshift which would allow a small percentage of slip allowing the RPM to rise. Jim

    Hi Brian thanks for the reply I cannot see why the lock-up should disengage unless it is a preempt to the expected moves in sportshift. Does that mean if you run around in sportshift you incur some loss in the torque converter?

    Hi Guys Looking for a little enlightenment When driving at a steady speed just below 60mph in auto the tacho reads 1800 if i move to sportshift the tacho jumps up to 2100 the gear shown is 5 if the gear is 5 at this speed how can it be less in auto?
