Hey everyone, got a bit of a weird issue, my car decides when it wants to stop and start. The first time it happened It just cut out while I was driving which was fairly scary as the steering locks up when it happens, secondly when you attempt to restart the car sometimes it will start within 5 mins and other times can take hours, I turn the key 2 clicks and usually the engine management light will briefly show before going out. When it's not working the engine management light doesn't appear at all and you can hear the engine trying to turn over, but it's as if the immobiliser is stopping it from starting. After the wait, however long that may be, the car will then start and run normally until the next hiccup. Seems to cut out in humid or wet conditions more so seems to be a pattern of sorts I have read a few people mention the ignition switch but I'm not entirely sold on that idea.any help with his matter would be great guys. Cheers.

Sounds like moisture is getting in somewhere very important. 2.0 ES, that's 7th Gen right? 2003-2008? If so, the ECU is down between the driver and passenger footwells. When sat in the driver seat remove the panel by your left leg. In there is a little metal box. That's your ECU. Check around there for signs of moisture. A while back a member had an issue of moisture getting in to where his ECU was and caused all sorts of issues to do with non-starting and things.

Difficult to troubleshoot these things from afar

How about HT Leads, spark plugs and distributor/rotor.

There has also been notice of solder joints on the Main Relay cracking causing a no-start

Hi guys,it's a 1998 honda accord es coupe the us/jap shape that came in 2.0 and 3.0 V6 models. The car was off road about 6 months so cleaned and calibrated sparks and ht leads and cleaned build up on distributor internal connections. liking the sound of the master relay as it could be a solder joint going high resistance causing it to intermittently work but also this ecu issue is it something that my model could also suffer from?

Week after I'm gonna take my for a specialist coz when it's warm it always dragging and stops but just after the second start. During the period from cold to optimal temp it's working good. Maybe my results will help you on Thursday week after :)

Shame I have no free time ATM as I could have visited you  I've resolved a few none start issues on the 2.0es coupes, recently dizzy cap was arching and another was the main relay needed to be re-soldered, although it could be something else in your case. Let us know how you get on ;)

I had a fault like that a few years ago on my accord coupe 2000. It turned out that the engine was cutting out because the fuel pump was not working. The reason the fuel pump was not working was that the main relay had packed up.

I narrowed it down to fuel as follows. When you turn the ignition key until the red lights illuminate on the dash, the fuel pump makes a sound for a second or two. But, after the engine had cut out, I noticed that when i tried to restart it, the fuel pump didn't make the sound.

The fuel pump is easy to access under the boot carpet. So, I made a temporary lash up with a wire that I could plug into the cigar lighter to power the fuel pump.

I got a replacement relay from the breakers, fitted it and the problem went away.

Wot he said ^^^^.

Today I was at the Vtecdirect near Northwich. I had the best workshop experience ever! It wasn't that expensive I've thought before. I had a dodgy knock sensor and that's why it stopped. They changed and It looks it solved.
