2.2 cdti Loud engine knocking noise

Squirting washing up liquid onto the head where the injectors are will identify exactly which ones are leaking. Do it on a cold/warm engine though, not hot.

I replaced a seal on number 4 for the first time a few months back. As others have said it's not too difficult but you need to be methodical . Coke helps btw.

I did suggest the coke method to my mechanic but they were saying it wasn't a carbon build up issue and that it was probably rusted itself in.

Could I try soaking around the injector with WD40 and leaving it for a while to see if it works its way down to the bottom? Also seen carb cleaner used in another video on YT.

He said he broke a few of his tools trying to remove them so they are really seized in.

Douse them in Coke overnight.. then place a block of wood over them and crank the engine.. they will pop out eventually. It's not the safest method but it works.

So, had it taken to a diesel specialist and it's a engine problem for sure. One cylinder is knackered. So on the hunt for another engine now...Merry Christmas!

Where's the cheapest place to get OEM parts online?

I'm thinking while it's out I should get them to fit a new timing chain, clutch and DMF, fuel filter....

Anything else to look for while it's out?

Secondhand cars are really cheap and it looks like you're planning to spend a lot more on the car than its ever worth. But if your really in love with that old car then why can't the diesel specialist tell you where to get all those parts?

They probably can but guessing it would cost a bit more, just seeing if I can save some money where I can.

If I hadn't have spent so much on this car already (buying it from a dealer/stealer and some maintenence bits) I would just break it and buy another as you can get them fairly cheap. But then selling it as parts or repair as it is would lose me a lot of money as they selling for even less.

What is he saying is actually knackered? Is it the piston ring? Have they got the engine running now? Is it burning oil, or can you hear any bottom end knock? Did something fall out of the injector into the block?

Sounds like something top end damage rather than bottom end.

Still need to remove the head but he thinks the chain jumped and cause a valve to be stuck open slightly then making contact with the piston bending the valve. Should have the head removed soon and will find out for sure but not sounding good.

You can't pick it up in the videos but It's metallic sounding clatter.

I’m breaking a 2.2 d with 250k engine sounds exactly as stated above and shed load of under bonnet smoke.
I’ve stripped most bits to fit into my 2.0 se now with full leather.if anyone needs bits I’ve plenty left msg me 07775726211

Sounds exactly like my cdti , same thing in slow moving traffic , couldnt pulllovrt , next thing a bang , it put a rod through the block , yhe mileage was 51k when it happened . I could only surmize , it was the oil pump or maybe previous owner had put in out the wrong oil

Ok so had to get the accord recovered by the AA due to a very loud knocking from the engine.

The car is an 05 accord 2.2 cdti with 105000 miles on the clock

I first thought the sound was a flapping belt, but after popping the bonnet with the engine still running the sound appeared to be coming directly from the block.

The car srptarts and runs and doesn't appear to be lumpy... But the noise is LOUD and sounds to be in time sync with the a single piston stroke.

Will be retiring the car till I get a chance to strip it down and take a look over the internals.

Any suggestions?
Had the same problem my engine had only done 50k put a rod through the blocj i think its something to do with the oil pump could be wrong .
